am running the latest version of Torque – but it doesn’t find a suitable protocol for a 1998 Pajero/Shogun [am using an ‘OBDkey’].

One of the early posts made it sound like it may only be some OBD dongles that would be compatible??

If so, could somebody post the make of one that does work?

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 4G92 98 and I can not scan it I have the latest version 1.6.32 and still does not recognize it, can someone help.

Hmm, interesting. I’m running the latest version 1.6.32 the car in question is a CH Lancer 4g69 (2.4Lt MIVEC). Torque connects through a cheap ebay chinese OBD adapter everything’s fine, only has a connection hiccup from time to time thats easily fixed by pulling the adapter and reinserting it.

I have no idea why, mine is 1.6 single cam

in the list of protocols that brings torque pro not see any that says MUT Protocol

The MUT support is for a specific set of requests – Torque at the moment now supports those requests (where before, it did not) and the data can be read

For pre-OBD2 vehicles, a custom init may be required, however the user that has this information needs to release their plugin that they are working on, which as far as I am aware, is still in development

I think I understand your answer.

Torque app doesn’t directly support MUT, but does allow a third party add-on to send and receive MUT data [via API]. There is a user on the board is is currently developing this – but it is not released yet?

Same here, Running latest Version, Tested on the Following Cars:

Mitsubishi Lancer EX 2009 – Not Working
Mitsubishi Galant 2006 JDM -Not Working
Golf 2001 – Not working (not sure if app or car)
JEEP Grand Cherokee 2007 – Working
BMW 530 2003 – Working
Ford Mondeo 2006 – Working
Toyota Camry 2011 – Working

all on the same adapter.

Would love to see Mitsubishi on the Working List

Any update guys? I’d love to get torque working on my old magna’s.

Can anyone that’s researched this more than I have confirm that MUTT over OBD is possible. I’ve read the info on wiki and the evo forums which suggest that MUTT may require baud switching and may even have different hardware protocols from OBD. Not sure any of this is possible with a elm327 type OBD dongle.

BTW I can confirm torque with cheap elm327 unit from ebay is working on;

Mitsubishi 380 06
Kia Carnaval 09

Doesn’t work on
Mitsubishi Delica 97
Subaru Foreter 97
Mitsubishi Pajero 03

I just found a port of MMCd for android on playstore called MMCDroid, I tried it on my 1995 Mitsubishi FTO GR (OBD2/MUT) with my chinese ELM327 clone and it seems to partially work!
values appear and seem about correct and the comm light on the elm327 flashes as if communicating.
Unfortunately the values dont update.
DTC also pulls descriptions of faults although no codes.

Although it doesn’t work properly I think it is closer than torque has got so far.

Maybe the dev could shed some light on the protocol’s secrets!

Hi guys,

Has the actual MUT protocol support been added to Torque? I saw in above posts that it has been, but I don’t see it listed anywhere in the app (unless I am just missing it).

I have created and tested extended PIDs for MUT over OBD in my Evo 8 and it works fine. I have created an android app that will copy the extended pids to your device, so that you can add them from the ‘Manage Extended Pids’ in Torque.

I was thinking about adding to Google Play as a free app, but was curious what the status is on the actual MUT protocol and support. If the protocol itself has been added, I can create another app to add the extended PIDs for MUT itself.

After reading this post http://forums.evolutionm.net/ecuflash/383311-elm327-bluetooth-evoscan-ecuflash.html#post7422846, I found I was able to retrieve all MUT requests as custom PID’s in Torque.

I was using the following:

A Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
Kiwi Bluetooth OBD2 Adapter
Samsung Galaxy S III

I might be doing this all wrong, but I was able to get data from all the MUT requests listed here http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/MUT_Requests by doing the following:

I did not set the custom 15625 baud setting.
Choosing the OBD-II Protocol as ISO 9141-2
Setup a custom OBD-II PID with MODE = a0. e.g. a014 = retrieve MUT battery level

I hope this helps someone…

Yes, that’s exactly right for the hybrid mode of MUT over OBD. That’s exactly what I have packaged into an app to copy to ./torque/extendedpids.

But, I was curious if the actual MUT protocol itself was supported yet by Torque as well.

My ECU is actually flashed with a DMA patch as well, so I have a DMA protocol, but I wouldn’t expect Torque to support that.

mitsubishi galant vr4 2001 evoscan just seems a tag to expensive for me.and im sure piemmm said in his earlier post that a custom init string might be needed hope this helps .

It’s just the MUT over OBD hybrid method, not pure MUT protocol. But, it logs MUT requests fine. Let me know what requests in particular you are looking for so I can include them.

As for what I’d like to read specifically, just the main things like boost, oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, afr if poss, etc… I will take everything available though, tbh. I love tinkering with that sort of stuff!

For boost and AFR, do you have your map sensor and wideband wired into ECU? If so, let me know what map sensor and wideband you have and I can setup your equations right.

Usually, people will replace the stock MDP with a different map sensor, like the JDM 3bar or Omni 4bar. For the ECU, the most common is to use the rear o2 input.
