Hi

You’ll need to verify that the sensors for boost are present in your vehicle – the easiest way to do this is to connect, go to the ‘realtime information’ screen, then add the following displays:

Intake Manifold Pressure
Mass Air Flow Rate

Once you have added both of these displays, at least one of them should provide a reading. If neither provide a reading, then it’s unlikely that your ECU is allowing those sensors to be read(or they are not present/faulty).

If you could at this point press menu->More…->send debugging info. (Write a description more than just an email address so I can find the debug once it’s sent to me), press send and I’ll have a look at the debugs and see what’s up for you

Thanks,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I’m using the torque application with a 2006 Subaru WRX, and I’m also not getting any boost or EGT readings. After reading through this thread, I see that it only now works with Audi, VW, and one other which I can’t remember at the moment.

Any chance on getting some Subaru love? I can help with any complex maths involved, and would be willing to be a guinea pig if necessary.

I’d really like to make some custom PIDs for Subarus as it doesn’t seem like Torque is recognizing a lot of sensors on my WRX.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love your product!

Hi!

The free version won’t read boost for vehicles that don’t have a MAP sensor, however the pro version can work out boost from several other sensors. It works on Subarus as well as VW’s/Audi/Seats (and many, many other vehicles makes)

Extended PIDs are a bit difficult to get hold of – they likely exist for subaru, however I don’t have any further information on what sensors are which PID (and the unit conversions, etc), it has to be worked out from watching what happens when you change a sensor (once you have found where that sensor is)

Torque should support SSM (if you have an adapter that can be configured to drop straight into SSM Mode such as the OBDkey), the protocol code isn’t very well tested behind that but the support is present (which can then read things like EGT, etc, using the native subaru protocol). I *think* a tactrix cable *may* work as well if you have a android 3.1+ tablet/phone with a USB host cable, but that is completley untested at the moment as I don’t have the cable or vehicle to test with
(SSM is selectable as a protocol in the vehicle profile, but you will need a compatible adapter (configured for SSM) before it will work)

set mine up yesterday on 03 gti which has been mapped to 1.4 bar and boost is identical using torque as it is on my defi guage. all i did was change from psi to bar in settings cause thats what my guage displays,
had a bit of a problem initially pairing device but virtually everything works
cheers
