Hi

Saw the posting, thanks – have looked at it and found a couple of bugs, both of which have been fixed and are awaiting for me to complete testing.

I’m hopefully going to get the update released late on Sunday provided all goes well. Boost at the moment for MAF based vehicles should work, though it may be intermittent.

It is important that the correct engine size in litres is entered into the settings for the boost calculation to work

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to register on forums (mainly as I would lose track of where to look) keeping the discussion on here helps everything stay focussed on the app and fixing any issues, please don’t take it too personally :)

Can you not get the actual boost from the MAP (manifold absolute pressure)sensor? They are built into the cars and I have used other devices to read the boost via the OBD2 port with the use of the MAP sensor.

Thanks for the response

VW and Audi don’t provide the map sensor as part of the standard PID set, it may be an extended PID, which I don’t have the information for at the moment

Hi
I have tried using Turbo Boost & Vacuum Gauge, but I only measure between -13 and -0,5 psi. My car is a 2007 Seat Ibiza 20vt (same as VW Polo GTI). I have set engine size to 1.8.
Does this measurement work for other VAG 1.8 20vt owners?

Ok thanks for the info. Get a copy of Ross-Tech’s software are rip it apart and find out how they get the map sensor data. Just kidding, a little

I ordered my OBD2 BT, we’re counting on you :)

I’ve been testing the app after the new additions in my mkv gti (2.0T), especially the turbo feature…by default/idle it’s stuck at 12.7psi…trying to re-zero it through the settings does not affect it at all. Also how accurate are these boost readings? It’s seems to never go above 10 psi..souls be around 16…

Yeah my boost readings are off too, I’m just happy to see movement on the boost dial.

I was infromed that the MAF could not be sent via the OBD2 port using a the standard MAP PID becuase VW was getting crap about it not being a true MAF. This criticism was base on the senors location on the car (not on the manifold). The sensor is there but it is just a pressure sampling device. Contact Revo Technik, APR, Ross-Tech, or Unitronic they know the secret to getting access to das boost from the MAP.

Of course I have no idea what any of that crap means.

**Crosspost from the ‘MAF Boost Readings’ thread**

I drive a 2002 Audi A4 1.8t GIAC chipped. IIRC, the turbo boosts to 8 or 10 PSI or so. Stock is 7 or 8 PSI (IIRC… could be wrong).

My dial marks read 0 at the bottom, then towards the negative side, -0, -1, -1, -1, ending around the 1 o’clock position.
Towards the positive side, it reads 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.3 and 1.5, so it looks like the positive displays correctly.
Also the needle flails all around the place at the slightest tap of the throttle.

I’m happy you were able to make some progress on VW cars, but it’s not there 100% yet. Anything I can do to help, lemmie know.
I’d also like to make the request that the ‘Settings’ button be available from all screens, not just the home screen.

BTW, Google Checkout refused to work with my Android 2.1 Transform phone, but since upgrading (if you can call it that) to 2.2, it worked. So, naturally I bought Torque. Dang, its a steal of a deal.

Any news on boost reading ?
I have a 1.8t engine on my car.
Got the Torque app on my phone, saw that it has boost gauge option so decided to buy a Bluetooth obd inteface to use it with.
Got it, tested it, everything works fine, but was very disappointed to see that the boost info (the main thing that I was after) is not available…

Hi

VW / VAG support for boost is not available on the free version, but should be working on the paid version (dependant on entering the engine size, etc in the vehicle profile)

hope this helps

I just bought the paid app because Ian said boost will work for vw/audi but its still not working. I entered all the vehicle info correctly.

Sent you a reply to the email – I need you to send me a comms debug log. (also just a thought- have you tried deleting and re-creating the ‘turbo boost’ display?)

Hi,

I have 2008 VW GTI (TSI 2.0 Turbo), my boost gauge is NOT working.. (running Torque Free 1.1.35 on Motorola Atrix).

I want to know if this issue was sorted before I spend real bling on paid version?

Best,
CK

Nevermind, got paid version and that works.. however several numbers appear way off including MPG, Boost, HP/Torques.

I have APR chipped GTI and numbers are about 20% off which is reflecting stock/factory values.. not new actual ponies. Anyway pretty cool app just wish numbers were not that far off.

Hi

Full version only has boost support for VW/Audi/MAF as there’s extra math involved (but you already found this :-))

Make sure your vehicle profile is setup – the engine displacement is *very* important if you’re using MAF (ie: a VW) as that’s a value required to work out the boost.

Weight is very important in the HP/Torque calcs as well (this includes Car, and ICE, Driver and fuel weight, not just the manufacturers ‘kerb’ weight. HP/Torque will be very accurate after that, and are best measured on a flat-straight road from a slow rolling start. Also, enable your GPS as it helps some aspects of the benchmarking (for increased accuracy, it works with the OBD adapter and GPS).

Make sure you select the vehicle profile to use after filling it in :-)

Check the error rate of your adapter is at 0 after being connected for a while – it should always be 0, if it’s above 0, then it can affect your readings as the adapter is having issues (and that doesn’t help time-critical functions)

Also enable ‘faster communication’ mode in the app settings – this will speed up reads from the OBD2 interface if your adapter can work at the faster speeds

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Ian

Hi

You need the update released 2 days ago which fixes the EGT and the boost issues for your vehicle. Engine displacement should be 2.0

Oil temp(as with any OBD2) sensor depends on the ECU supporting it being read – not all vehicle ECUs support it
