Post Found a list of external VW PID, only few are working
on: October 3, 2022 (GMT)

Hi everyone,

I bought Torque Pro more than ten years ago, and I’m using it with all my cars since then. In most case, I found some external PID around the Internet and use them without any problem.

I recently found a comprehensive list of PID for my latest car on this german forum. https://www.goingelectric.de/wiki/Liste-der-OBD2-Codes/

I manage to test some of them, which are working great, but some others aren’t working at all. Here is the screen I’m driving with :

For instance :

    PID : 221E32
    Equation : (I*16777216+J*65536+K*256+L)/8583.0712
    Header : 7E5
    is working fine, but
    PID : 221E32
    Equation : Signed((M*16777216+N*65536+O*256+P)/8583.0712
    Header : 7E5
    is displaying a wrong value.

Another example :

    PID : 223E94
    Equation : (A*256+B)/64
    Header : 7E6
    is OK, but
    PID : 223EB5
    Equation : (A*256+B)/64
    Header : 7E6
is displaying “NO VALUE” when I test it in the Torque PID editor.

I don’t speak german, but I translated quite a few pages of this forum, and it appears to me that all thoses PID are working fine. It looks like these guys are using them with other apps, which means there is something wrong with the way I use Torque external PID’s.

I gave up importing external PID with a csv file, I couldn’t set up the file properly with Windows tools and couldn’t transfer it properly to my phone. So I’m testing them one by one with the External PID Editor. This could be related to my problem, but I’m familiar to this editor, I used it a lot with some previous cars. The list of external PID to be used on hybrid Toyota’s is quite big and didn’t have any issue, for instance.

I’m using a cheap/chinese/generic Bluetooth adapter whithout any issue, deconnexion or latency. The app is working great, even during few hours of driving and loogging.

To have a simplier view of the whole PID set, here is a link to a GoogleDrive Spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JU79ZEJxAy2EoisKTK4ex1cbj4ONN5ANbigRcKzdgls/edit?usp=sharing

I replaced the double variables names “aa” style with “A” when using Torque External PID Editor, and I also replaced the exponents with discrete values, as it appears to me that Torque doesn’t like exponents, or doesn’t like my syntax around exponents. Some comments in my file are in german, some others in french, sorry about that, but the PID I have tested are labelled with “OK” or “NOK”.

I someone here is noticing something wrong in my list, or knows something specific about VW PID’s, I would appreciate some advice.

Warm regards,

Vince
