Post TFT Transmission fluid temp ZF transmission.
on: March 21, 2022 (GMT)

Hi this is follow up post to my previous post.
Would just like to get this to work as i need to monitor my trans fluid temp for maintenance and just to see if its overheating. (Getting a strange noise when it heats up)

Would really appreciate the assistance.

So im kind of new but have learnt quite a bit.

Transmission: ZF8HP50z
Vehicle: Great Wall (GWM) P-Series/Poer/Poe

The transmission is a ZF8HP50Z basically the same as in the land-rover Sport, but as i understand it the PID’s are manufacturer specific.

I got myself Torque Pro and it works with my car, picks up most of the generic sensors and give me all the data, so thats great.

It gives me transition fluid temp but its the same as the coolant temp of the engine so that not working.

It picks up the ECU at 7e8
It picks up the TCM at 7e9

Now i use torque scan to search a bunch of PID’s
A very helpful person assisted me in a previous post on trying to find a PID that matches ambient temp, but im afraid im not familiar enough with the process to be able to efficiently search though like 1000 PID responses, surly there is a easier way that im missing.

So my question is:
Is there a faster way to search though all the variables to get my answer? Should i scan in a certain range like 7e9 -> 7fff? should i scan everything and then just export to CSV and use the search function to find a value that matches ambient temp? How would that value look like or can i just search for the Decimal value -40?

Basically i have been searching for a tutorial on how to efficiently search for my TFT PID. 😀

Thanks for whoever has read this far!

Should i scan in a certain range like 7e9 -> 7fff?

7E9 -> 7E9 only at this address
PID 220109
A*1.8-40 °F

Thanks, I get that part now. This is the most info I got so far. :)
This is what I got so far, that response from that I get is kind of static.
Have a look at the images I saved on my drive please if you can.

Use header 7E1 for 7E9 responses.

I actually just read that.

“So instead of sending the request to the PCM at 7E0 the request is sent to the TCM at 7E1”

quickly going to my car to “fiddle” :)

thanks

Ok gave it a shot,
Did connect to the car,

Still no response unfortunately,

did get a response when i accidently changed the PID to 20109, but that was unintended and not what we looking for i think.

PID: 220109
OBD header: 7E1

FYI also tried Geat Wall Delphi preset init string for interest sake. Did connect but no response.

Does the engine need to be on and in gear?

One of my friends used another device and can see the temp. There is some info on here. Have a look.
