Post Lost Connection every 1:15 mins
on: February 18, 2022 (GMT)

I bought a ELM 327 couples months ago, work perfectly but after some update the APP lost the connection, I thought that device was broken an change it, with the new device have the same problem, but this time I checked what kind of the protocol can used the car, so I find that the ISO 14230-4 (5B int, 10.4k baud) it’s the correct for VW Derby (polo classic), but have almost the same trouble, the app connect and disconect, ¿can be the Xiaomi Phone?.. well I tested with a motorola phone and have the same problem, but I find something the app disconnect por 1:15 minutes and connect for 15 seconds.

Any solution?

Hi

Can you update to the latest version from Google Play and see if there is an improvement as there were some changes recently in the bluetooth code for a similar issue.

It could also be the adapter, but we need to make sure you are using the latest version of the app

yes, also I trying the beta (from afternoon) 1.12.83 version, I’m not sure about if it’s the device because I used a new one and from the first use have the trouble

Hi

Ok, as this is reproducable, can you:

* Update to the latest beta release (1.12.85)

* Start torque, go into the app settings->special settings->enable debugging then quit and restart the app

* Let the app connect to the adapter, go to the ‘realtime information’ screen immediately and wait until the adapter disconnects

* as soon as the adapter disconnects, press the menu/gear icon and select ‘send debugging info’ and type ‘ram’ in the box that pops up and press send

let me know here when that’s done and I’ll take a look at the debug and see where the fault lies (app, adapter, bluetooth, etc)

Hi!

Looks like an adapter or ECU issue on this one, it’s probably the adapter as it seems to be an ebay/amazon clone

Basically (from the debug) is that the adapter thinks the ECU has stopped responding to requests:

1645465837682{– 010C<13>
1645465837907–} 410C16AC
1645465837929{– 010C<13>
1645465838393–} NO DATA

(no data forever)

There’s not much I can do with this as it appears to be an adapter issue, or the ECU has gone away/sleep as it stops sending data to the adapter (or the adapter isn’t working correctly and has stopped bothering)

Hi!

I’m still investigating this at the moment – I may have more in a couple of days (as it’s taking this long to collect information)

If you go into the app settings, turn off ‘faster communications’ and enable “Disable ELM327 auto timing adjust” and see if that makes a difference, that would be extremely helpful!

Hi!

I’ve had a look at all the debugs now and have made some small changes that may improve the issue for you – if you get the 1.12.89 beta and see how things go it might fix the problem

I tested (1.12.89), same result but now the app lost the connection with the device…. hahaha!

I was thinking if I try to use a some old version to try to find the problem, My problem start around June-agost from the las year (I don’t know what version was it), when the problem started I used the vagcom but I can’t use it when I driving to check some sesors on the higway.

it’s possible to shared me some old version apk to install on my android?

Hi!

Did you change the settings back to their defaults:

* Faster communications: off
* Disable ELM327 auto timing adjust off (was on)

Both these options in the correct settings above should get you up and running as it sets the app up as the old version was setup- if it still does it after this then it’s likely an adapter/ecu issue

Yes I did, still the lost connection problem.

Can be the adapter because with the vagcom I don´t have any trouble.

Hi!

Yes, at this point is is very likely to be an adapter issue – it simply shouldn’t stop receiving requests like this as it’s not something that can happen in a normal OBD session (unless the ECU goes to sleep, which should not be the case here as you’re using it with the engine on)
