Post extra analog sensor
on: January 19, 2021 (GMT)

Hello
I love torque and I would like to add extra sensors to monitor gearbox/diff/engine oil temps

I saw some arduino code but I have very little arduino knowledge.
I saw 2 options which are not easy for me :
First option https://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Arduino

Second option, arduino with canshield https://youtu.be/qYqtvH7TyDQ

Third option bit pricey https://youtu.be/qhq0WfuxZ0M

Any other recommendation? What would you recommend

Thanks

I have no personal experience or special knowledge in this area – but I understand there are ‘OBDII Expansion Modules’ that communicate on the CAN bus and have input ports for custom sensors. You query them (VIA OBDII) same as stock parameters are requested from the PCM.

I _think_ the racing community use them for adding monitoring to older model, less robust OBDII engines they modify for racing.

I saw (but can’t find it again) a post where a member added an OIL TEMP sensor in this method for his vehicle that did not have or support one – and was reading it with Torque.

thanks this is exactly what I’m looking for. I found gaugeart analog to can also. It supposed to do the job. Time to try!
