Post Leaving the ELM327 Adapter installed all the time ?
on: January 27, 2020 (GMT)

My car is a supercharged 2011 Corvette … Instead of re-installing the ELM327 Bluetooth OBD adapter every time I want to use it, is there any reason why I can’t just leave it attached to the car’s OBD connector all the time?

I only turn on and use the ‘Torque Pro’ app when I want to check my spark timing or boost pressure … Normally I don’t even have the Torque Pro app on my cellphone turned on at all.

Will it hurt anything just leaving this OBD adapter plugged in all the time?

Thanks,

Below is a photo of the type ELM327 module I have. It is a version 1.5

I notice that the little red LED light on this adapter is on all the time its plugged in … Even when the car is not running.

I wonder if this adapter draws enough power when the car is not running so as to drain the car’s battery after a few days of sitting in the garage?

When I do unplugging it, I notice that it is warm
