Post 2000 ford superduty 7.3 not communicating with ecu
on: November 16, 2019 (GMT)

Hi all,
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 2000 ford superduty, with a 7.3 diesel (non obd2 compliant I believe)

I am having problems talking to the ecu.
I have loaded the ford specific settings.
I tried toggling the f-150 work around. No change.
The gauges are all present, but all read 0.

I am wondering if it is the cheap elm327 I bought (blue, was 10$)

It connects to Bluetooth, but always says no connection to the ecu.
I am willing to spend some money on a different obd2 reader, just thought I would ask if I am doing something wrong.

Some of the cheap adapters have issues reading
the older protocols. I suggest getting a quality unit.
I personally use BAFX and OBDLink Mx which work
on the older vehicles.
