Hi,

Several days ago, I opened a topic, got a reply from cintakc, but when trying to reply back, my reply is not saved, as annoying as can be, i can’t do it..

Anyway, cintakc last message was:

So I’ve done some tests:
– I initially used my old ELM adapter (Chinese one, blue) which was actually working with default PIDs. I’ve got some “?”.
Then with the app ELM identifier, I noticed many “KOs”.
A fiend of mine borrowed me his adapter, which was giving all commands green, “OK”. Despite the fact that it was displaying version 1.5 after “ATI” command, he was compatible even with 2.2 version..
So, using this new adapter, the responses are the following:
ATI -> ELM v1.5
ATPBE101 -> OK
ATCRA612 -> OK
ATSH6F1 -> OK
ATFCSH6F1 -> OK
ATFCSD12300F02 -> OK
ATFCSM1 -> OK
ATCEA12 -> OK

Please let me know which other tests should I do.

Hi cintakc,

Well, in the meanwhile I read about ELM commands, and I discovered that using the command “ATSPB”, we’re setting the wrong protocol with ECU. The correct one is “6” = ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 kbit/s).
So I get the following results:
3E -> 7E8037F3E13
1A80 -> NODATA
22F101 -> 7E8103C62F101010100
22F18A -> 7E80662F18A000008
22F18B -> 7E80662F18B140509

suspicion that your adapter is fake, as in a multiline response the adapter accepts only one line
What were the answers to all the ATxx commands?

I installed Carista OBD2, but i couldn’t connect to the ECU (I think not even to the adapter itself) and the app displayed a message that my adapter could be defective. So your suspicion could be true..

Please recommend a good adapter, as I can’t figure out which one should be ok (so many to chose from, and apparently so many are fake..). In the range of 30-50$ maybe, and a bluetooth one (not wifi), from amazon, ebay etc.

Previously, and this time as well (atsp6, atsh7e0), the answer to all ATxx commands was “OK”.

Ohh, and I get the feeling that NOT ALL (genuine) adapters read EVERY parameter of the car..this seems odd to me.
But if this is the case, I should say that I’m particularly interested to have DPF readings (ash, soot mass, diff pressure, DPF life etc), then also engine & auto-gearbox oil parameters (level, mileage etc).
I’m also interested to have a reading that will give me a clue about the diesel fuel quality – do you know which reading/application may give me this view?

A while ago, I received the adapter UniCarScan. It is NOT a “fake” adapter.
But it seems it cannot read most of the memory locations.
Find here the ELM327 Identifier log. Some KOs, I don’t know if they really matter here.

Besides this, it seems it doesn’t have implemented a stanbdby function, so after I left it the whole weekend plugged in the car (I always leave even my fake adapter, connected, but never had any issue), Monday morning the car displayed a warning that there is a higher than normal energy consumption. And all the time, even if the car is in “sleeping” mode, I’ve got a message on the phone to connect to the adapter.

Anyway, pls let me know what to do.

those commands that are not supported by your adapter do not affect the can protocol, but I don’t know if your adapter is compatible with the ELM327 adapter
perhaps there are additional commands for this adapter

I presume there’s a support team behind this adapter.
What should I ask them? (if might me too vague to ask if it is compatible with ELM327, or?)
Anyway, they’re saying it’s compatible with Torque app)

I recall my goal: for my BMW F11 520d LCI 2014, I’d like to be able to monitor with Torque app, the following PIDs:
– DPF differential pressure
– NOX
– current gear
– distance since last regeneration
– ash mass
– soot mass
– calculated remaining capacity DPF
– successful number of regens
– regeneration status
– engine temp
– gearbox oil temp
– engine oil level

Thanks so much for the support.
For the moment, let’s perhaps switch attention to this adapter (Carista), as I feel is better than UniCarScan.

it turns out the 22xxxx mode is not supported by your engine ECU, most likely only dynamic pids, but we still could not connect to them BMW F10

An update of car’s software may be a solution? Or only ECU’s software?
By next week, I’ll make a diagnose, and I can look after software level of the car.

What do you mean by “dynamic pids”?
Which of the ECU replies made you think something is not supported?
I mean, I’ll diagnose her and perhaps fix some errors etc. I can even try to update the car’s software, so I can try after again and see if something has changed.
