Post Assistance Required, custom init command for Holden advanced PIDS
on: October 6, 2019 (GMT)

Hi

I am trying to get a trans temp PID for my 2009 VE Holden Calais and the OBD mode 22 PIDs recommended for General Motors Don’t seem to work.

I know the car has a transmission temp sensor and it displays the information in a hidden “engineering mode” screen on the cars Display.

I have been researching and come across custom init commands to access non OBD compliant data through torque.

I have seen a command for bmw and was wondering anything like that is known for Holden?

Any help would be appreciated.

try creating an external PID and do a PID Test and made screenshot
PID: 221970
Transmission Temp
Trans Temp
0
100
x1

Equation: A
Header: 7E2

these are test PIDs to check if the gearbox will respond
take a screenshot in the PID Test mode

The test pid returned -1.

Most mode 22 PIDS I try return A=-1, or -41 after equation A-40

I’ve tried GM Method 1, 2, 3 all the same.

The hex response is 7EA03F2211

The funny things is when I do a scan all of the results come back the same.

The only mode 22 PID that seems to work for the trans is the current gear.

I know the trans reads the temp, but I think it uses the value internally and doesn’t transmit it as a OBD PID.

My vehicle is a 2009.5 VE Calais V wagon with V6 and 5 speed auto.

I think alot of the trans stuff for my vehicle is just not supported as mode 22 compliant.

I tried using PID 221940 with header DA19F1 in the custom PID and it started the car!!!. Scared the shit out of me as I was sitting there in the dark.

so 20 = a=-1
1a9a = a= 2,0
1acb 1.0
1acc 1.0
1adb = 65
1ac1= 1.0
1ac2 = 5.0
1ac3 = 49
1ac4=49
1ac2=49
i tried som random ones
67-103
69= 105
70=112
40=64
10=16

I tried scanning with 7e1, DA18F1, DA19F1

DA18F1 set of some string of commands and set the traction control warning off, and the abs.

one of the others was just no data over and over

and the other the responses were 7E8037F2411 over and over

I didn’t do full scans, I just wanted to see what would happen for the first minute or so.

non of the pids matched the trans temp which was about 46/47 degrees c.

CINTAKC I found this spread sheet online called the GM LAN Bible.

I can’t really make much sense out of it, but maybe it means more to you!

so 20 = a=-1
1a9a = a= 2,0
1acb 1.0
1acc 1.0
1adb = 65
1ac1= 1.0
1ac2 = 5.0
1ac3 = 49
1ac4=49
1ac2=49

I need a complete answer in PID Test mode
example:
20 – 7F2012
1003 – 50 03 00 32 f1 01 or 7f 10 12
1a9a – 5a9a 31 32 33 34 35 36 …..

the exchange protocol of your car resembles the exchange protocol Opel
https://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=3646.0
you need to install a terminal program for further protocol studies
example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.mosreg.krasn.Elm327Chat&hl=ru
in this terminal it is possible to enter commands in a list, rather than manually and record the log, and choose English

try this
Header 7e2
pid 2100 without 22 forward

try in the Terminal
make the terminal
atz
ath1
atsp6
atsh7e2
atcra5ea
20
3e
aa03fe
2cfe0011
aa03fe

or

atz
ath1
atsp6
atsh7e2
atfcsh7e2
atfcsd300040
atfcsm1
atcra5ea
20
3e
aa03fe

awesome – thanks so much for this

It’s interesting that they were taking about aa pids in the other thread.

As On my scan tool it mentions something about the transmission module being at address aa or something like that.

Cheers.

Link to pics of terminal session and test pid 2100

Both terminal sessions came back no data.

2100 returned 7EA037F2111 a=17
