BAFX brand Elm 327 from Amazon.com
Motorola DROIDX
2011 Mustang GT 5.0

It seems to work fine, other than being in the way of my left leg when using the clutch. I need to get a 90 degree adapter or something.

It works fine, maybe just a bit slow pid/sec speed.

Have two Bluetooth adapters (one BAFX, one “ELM327 Bluetooth” and an “Elmscan 5 compact” USB device. All work fine with either Netbook (Win XP and Win 7 & touchscan). Bluetooth device both work fine with Android 2.2 on a Viewsonic G-Tablet.

However a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with ICS Android 4.0.3 only works reliably with the USB device. The Bluetooth devices connect rarely but is more common to get constant pairing requests.

Torque Pro is not the only ODB app having this problem.

About a month ago Samsung finaally admitted an issue and promised a fix RSN but has not appeared yet (just checked).

So if you have a Samsung device with ICS, complain to Samsung and not Ian.

Galaxy SII/E4GT rooted Blazer Rom 4.1, OBDLink MX. Tried other adapters, but being handicapped with those with their limited protocols decided to get the best after testing three other (cheaper) adapters. Eliminated the headaches.

Works a peach. Amazingly fast and paid for itself 3x over thus far 😉

Any experience out there with the BAFX Products (TM) – ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool? Available for about on Ebay? I intend to use it with a Google Nexus Tablet.

AGPtek® Super Mini ELM327 V1.5 from BrainyDeal through Amazon
Phone is BP-19300 Android 4.0.3 (80 on eBay)
2001 Dodge Caravan Sport

Currently using free version on my second day of testing. Looks great!

The bluetooth adapter works flawlessly even though similar units do not. It even supports the faster updating option. If you want the small, cheap ‘clone’ it’s important to get this one from BrainyDeal. (currently 10 +7 shipping)

It is listed several times throughout this thread. I have one in route and will be playing with it over the next few days.. I’ll update then.

I am using two different setups depending on what I am doing.

Setup for GPS and time trials is my Galaxy S3 phone with the Scantool OBDlink SX over USB with a micro USB to female type A adapter. I also have a generic elm 327 Bluetooth adapter I purchased from Amazon but I rarely use it.

Setup for just gauges is my YIFANG Nextbook7 (NEXT7P12-8G) which is rooted and set up for full USB functionality but otherwise has a stock rom. This is connected to the Scantool via USB. The tablet is a 7″ tablet, no GPS or Bluetooth but it cost me 69.00 at Wal-Mart. It uses android 4.0.3 operating system.

I am still working on putting together the dash for permanent mounting of the tablet. After I get that all done ill post a pic of my dash.

Auto Hobbyist. Currently working on a 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel. I have been working on cars off and on for about 30 years. I am on active duty and I move around a lot so the truck is handy.

I bought this from Amazon for just shy of £12 including delivery:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0085JE3X8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The actual device is labelled as a Vgate OBD Scan, but otherwise looks identical.

I’m reading the data with a 7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, running Android 4.4.2.

I’ve used it to read data from my 2010 VW Passat (B6) 2.0 turbo-diesel and my wife’s 2014 Mazda MX5 2.0. Both worked without any problems on a 30 minute trip, and automatically reconnected after a 10 minute break while I nipped to the shops.
