Post PID Scan Duration?
on: March 3, 2019 (GMT)

Attempted to use Torque Scan to get PIDs for my 2017 Hyundai. Set the (long) scan into motion and it just kept churning and churning, but some adding of PIDs to the will work list in the background.

However I let this scan continue (while driving) for an hour and a half and it was still “discovering” before I had to stop it, how long does this last for and is there a better way to add these PIDs? I got to about PID 22C4a

Because I stopped the scan before full completion does that mean the PIDs I did got were not added to the working PID list (green background)?

Will I have to start all over again?

Thanks

I’m asking the same question…
It would be very nice to get the possibility to restart at the same point…

I have a cheap ELM327 adapter, and the scan rate seems to be 1 adress per second…

If the scan is from 220000 to 22FFFF It means that the full scan would took 18 hours (in the supposition that there is nothing after 22FFFF…). (knowing that if someone call me… the scan stop ! ^^)

I just bought a new adapter, in wifi this time.
Do you think that the scan rate will be higher ?

I left my 2004 F150 idling and ran a FULL scan from 0000 to FFFF (Back when Torque Scan worked correctly —- would actually let you ‘send’ / ‘Share’ the result via email).

It took 7 hours to scan — and a while to send the file.

As far as I know, present version (at least MINE) will scan, but when you stop it and try to send – looses everything and will not send the file. Check that out before doing a full scan.

Hello cintakc,

What do you mean by “Terminal” ?

Is it a special device ?

free program from the play market terminal elm327chat
in it you can specify a list of PIDs for scanning in the form of a text file
usually create a file with a list of commands from 220000 to 2200FF, by editing the file with commands, you can scan any range you need
here is an example file with commands

oh…. I see.

Many thanks, I think it would be more convenient, I could splite the scan in little 1 hour sessions !
I took the app from “MAXdevelopers” on playstore.

I’ll try this !

yes, at any free time you can scan a number of PIDs, then, when needed, continue searching in another range

It doesn’t work with my modus operandi. :-/

On the app “ELM327 OBD Terminal” when I try a PID than I sent, there is a error in the response (even if I try a PID on which one I’m sure that it must have a response…

On an other App, I can’t event test an adress.

Cintakc, which app do you use ?

And an other question : I know that my car get a response on a precise PID (example : AA0118 (for DPF infos)), but how (with a scan from 220000 to 22FFFF) can I have a response on this PID ?

Thanks

if your engine ECU exactly answers the request aa0118, then write such requests to the file for the terminal

Hi cintakc,

I finally succeeded to do the tests, first from 220000 to 2201FF,
then from AA0000 to AA01FF.

It’s clearly faster ! thanks for the advice !

Can I ask you something about my results?
I asked here on the second message : https://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=15442.00

Thanks.
