05 f250 won't read trans temp

I got a 05 f250 6.0 diesel. Everything works fine except it won’t read trans temp. Tried method 1, 2, and 3. Also tried just trans temp. My snap on scanner reads tft just fine. Do I need a different custom pid?

Try posting the raw hex responses for the
TFTs you tried by testing each while in the
pid editor and connected to your vehicle.

While connected to vehicle…

Goto Manage Extra Sensors/Pids to
see a list of your Ford Predefined Pids
which I assume you added already.

Find the pids for TFT and press to edit
with the pid editor.

Near the bottom of the editor page press
TEST to see the raw hex response from your
vehicle.

Setting headers On with ATH1 may be helpful
if more than one module responds.

When I was looking at that last night I hit test an it said no response

Can you look under the Adapter Status
icon information and tell me what
protocol your vehicle is using?

If CAN try headers 7E0 and 7E1.

If PWM try headers C410F1 and C418F1.

Try testing the TFT pids again after changing
header field to 7E0 or 7E1.

Looking for a 62… for a successful hex response.

Your vehicle’s network is using 11 bit CAN to
communicate.

Still says “no response”
All 3 methods and the transmission temp pids

You might try using header 7DF to see if
a different module responds.

I also suggest you look on Ford specific forums
for your 6.0L to see if someone has solved this
problem before.

I appreciate all the help. It’s just weird that my snap on scanner reads it just fine and everything else shows up like it should on torque.

I’ve already tried that as well. There are actually 4 different pid choices for trans temp.
1) transmission fluid temp method 1
2) transmission fluid temp method 2
3) transmission fluid temp method 3
4) transmission temp

I’ve tried all 4, 1 & 2 say tcm. The method 3 says C410F1 . transmission temp says auto. All under header

I deleted the top line “obd2 mode and pid” it will read now but the temp always reads 213°

Without the correct mode/pid provided,
Torque will treat as a custom pid whose
value is from the given equation. The
variable data would be questionable since
it wasn’t read from a vehicle pid.

Did you ever test using header 7DF in case
the module is different from 7E0 or 7E1.

I would also be curious of the results if
you temporarily clear all the pids and manually
retype just the TFT pids.
