Hi folks, please bear with me as I’m a newbie to all this and am hoping to learn a lot. I purchased Torque Pro (amazing app for the price!) and have my bluetooth connector and have been playing with it.

So far I have oil and coolant temps which seem accurate enough – oil and coolant levels maybe sitting at 70 or 80C and 90C respectively when the car is warm. The RPM and % torque seems accurate too. There are some such as EGR % and EGTB1S1 which fluctuate but seem credible.

The DPF pressure can measure anything from 0 PSI to maybe 600 but more likely 100-200? I don’t know if thats correct or not. The DPF temp starts from cold to read -40C and at highest seems to touch -38C. This seems glaringly wrong so I’m not sure what to do.

I’ve read so many poor reviews of the Advanced EX for Kia and how out of date it is. I tried the LT version for free but notice none of the PIDs have any mention of any DPF readings and to be honest even when I select my engine type it doesn’t seem right…

How on earth do I go about learning how to see a regen in my car (impossible to detect in mine seemingly!) Do some other readings indicate a regen or can i alter or create a PID to suit?

If your vehicle supports it, you will need to
add a custom pid to test and display status.

Torque is place marking some of the mode 01
pids as found in Wiki. But you will have to test
response and solve equations for the byte data
in the response.

For example,

Torque Scan shows “DPF Pressure [7a]”

Long Name: DPF Pressure Test
Short Name: DPF Press
Mode/Pid: 017a
Header: Auto
Equation: A
Min: 0
Max: 100
Scale: x1
Units: ?
Diagnostic Start/Stop Commands: Leave blank.

While in the pid editor and connected to your
vehicle, TEST to see the vehicles raw hex
response.

Thank you for your response! Ok so I use the wiki and run tests to get data out and from there can work out how to alter the pid as long as the test shows it works on my car?

To get you started, create a custom pid
with the info given above.

Post the raw hex response here for additional
help.

Don’t forget to search the web and this forum
to see if someone else has already solved.

You will be creating your own version of
017a which hopefully works. You can do
this with any of the pids if you wanted to
see the raw hex responses.

Hi I tried the above and pressed test and it said:

Command: 017A
Response: 417A000000
Variables used in equation: A=0 (hex=00, binary = 00000000)
Equation steps = A

Hope that makes sense? I added that display but it’s not changed from 0.0

I had searched on the forum before posting and had found PIDs for a 2013 kia Rio which had a 1.6crdi engine so I had hoped they were the same but when I added them I’m not getting any readings…

Looks like the same response as in that thread.

Maybe someone with specific knowledge of the
mode 21 pids for your vehicle will respond.

DAF, try this PID: 22ED03
Diagnostic Start: 1003

I had noted at the end of the thread that 3 of the 4 PIDS seemed to work so I hoped they would in mine but no joy ?

Tried this by editing the latest one suggested. Here are the results form the test:

So after this I started the car and it read 0.0 after a few seconds it jumped to 255.0 and I thought great it’s working but it just stayed at that. The airbag light came on and stayed on until I restarted the car but was grand after that. Again the only time the 255.0 changed was when I switched the car off

I am still curious about your 017A
response. If you look under the Adapter
Status icon information, is DPF Pressure
supported?

Might try specifying header rather than
Auto. 7E0 or 7DF ?

Displaying header bytes in response to see
module responding could help. (ATH1).

Was expecting a response like…

41 7A AA BB CC DD EE FF GG

not…

41 7A 00 00 00

I think have progressed! I only realised tonight that torquescan was an add on so downloaded it and did the pid scan. It took a good while but eventually it finished. One dpf reading seemed to be working as shown above…time will tell. Dpf temp still off though…

Hi Capp777 maybe the torquescan will help that? I’ll have a play with that and do as you suggest tomorrow and see. From memory DPF pressures and temps were both supported. Thanks for all your help so far!

DAF,
the answer from the block is multibyte, I will look at the formula today

Sorry for the delay I didn’t have the chance to try that other code but the other morning I noticed the EGR % drop to 0 and the DPF temp changed from its usual -38C to a -37.4C it hadn’t done before in the last few days driving and the exhaust gas temperature readings rose…I’ve put it in the following table and I’m guessing the bit I’ve highlighted in the black box was a regen taking place?

Its hard to read the writing but:

Red line is the DPF pressure
Orange is the DPF temperature
Grey is the EGR %
Yellow is the exhaust gas temp bank 1 sensor 1
Blue is the exhaust gas temp bank 1 senor 2

By my reckoning that black box was an approx 20 minute period which would seem about right?

Cintakc, is that link you posted my cars data? Only reason I ask is that the total distance covered matches my car!

Are you using 017C for DPF Temp? If so could
you post its raw hex response.

I believe it should mirror EGT Temps.

Your vehicle is reporting that mode 01 pids
should be returning valid data.

Still curious to see raw hex responses for…

017C

018B

0180

I am wondering if other pids not described
by Torque are also supported.
