Torque scan results

Like many others, I find that I can’t do anything with the completed Torque Scan. It worked and has what appears to be hundreds of valid results but there is no way to get it off the phone.
email = “Couldn’t attach file” force it to send anyway and it’s just a blank, empty email
Bluetooth = “File “Unknown” not sent”
Android Beam = Comes up to Google Play Store, “Item not found”
Why doesn’t it just save as a file on the phone so you can pull it off with a PC??

Then of course there is the question of what to do with it, as I am trying to find the PID for a custom gauge from this thread:

I still have the scan results showing on my phone – if anyone can tell me how to save it and/or use it that would be great!

Are you trying to find the address associated
with your custom fuel pressure pid?

If so, Torque Scan shows the internal addresses
it assigns to known pids next to the long name. e.g.,

Fuel Rail Pressure [23]
My Fuel Rail Pressure [exxxxx] ?

The scan feature looks for pids that report successful
messages from your vehicle that can be further researched/
tested to find its purpose and value. These are not
currently known to Torque. It is up to the user to
figure these out.

Yes, trying to find that among other things, also just trying to figure out why exporting or saving the results is impossible. As far as the result file there are no names of PID’s – here is an example of what I get, I am guessing 100 or more like this:

Torque Scan has been around a long time
as a free plugin. I am guessing the saving
function has changed for newer devices.

The scan example you posted shows
pids 2126 and 2127 returning valid data
bytes. You would have to experiment and
test to find what they do.

For instance, what bytes match ambient temperature
with a cold engine and when hot match your
expected Trans temperature. Lots of trial and
testing. Not easy.

Hoping Ian will update Torque Scan with suggested
features and fixes. My guess it’s a low priority
compared to his paid apps.

Anyway it is still useful for customizing themes.

you’re right, Torque Scan version 1.8 cannot send scan results
You need to search for an older version of Torque Scan 1.6, everything will work in it

personnaly i was lucky when i wanted to find a value

i bought a variable resistor … hooked in place of the sensor i wanted to check

then monitor the adress that responded on the scan (engine off key on)

changed the R value from min to max and see if the response would change

lucky me, the second adress was the right one

after that you need to figure out range … i had the range of the sensor ..so that did help

…

but sometime it can play trick … i have seen boost value become error code FF if the correlation with another sensor was not ok

lots of fun finding variable

specific forum of you car model is a good place to start

“guess it’s a low priority compared to his paid apps” – you might be right, but maybe the paid version of Torque would sell better with better documentation and functional add-ons and companion apps!

“You need to search for an older version of Torque Scan 1.6,” – so far I have had no luck finding a previous version.
