I just tried the new Track Recorder on a 15 minute trip through town. After encoding using TorqueSyncv9 and viewing on the computer, the gauges and the video still do not sync, by a few minutes in, the gauges lead the video by a about 30 seconds. At 10 minutes in, the gauges lead the video by 60 seconds. However, playing the recording on my Galaxy Nexus phone from within the Torque Recorder application is very close, although the gauges don’t update very rapidly, maybe once every couple of seconds or more. I’m not complaining, I hope these reports help.

Took a test video this afternoon, and looks like the guages update quicker, and the sync loss seemed to be much better. Halfway point in the recording, I couldnt tell much of any sync issue. I did not attempt map yet. Ty!

I need to update the desktop encoder to fix the sync issue as well (at the moment playback in the app should be fixed)

The desktop encoder has a few big changes in it though – one requires a recompilation of Xuggler, which at the moment is holding things up.

Trace Recorder is frozen within 1 minute with Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in all video resolution. I just updated TR from google play. When I start to record it works fine just some seconds, but it was frozen before long.
I tried for several times but there were no difference.
What shall I do?

Hi!

With the freezes, can you tell me what device (and android version) you are using, and if this is an original (or custom) ROM?

Some S2 users on android 4.0.3 are still having problems – I’ve fixed this here (and added tilt and roll gauges whilst I was at it) so this should be better in the next update (coming real soon) for those users

Any word on getting high-definition video recording working?

Using a Droid 4, Android 4.0.4, the only options are “high, medium, low” – high being 720×480, and the resulting mp4 is incorrectly tagged as 4:3 rather than 16:9 aspect ratio. (It would be nice if it actually said “720×480” rather than “high”.)

Hi!

An update posted today should sort out most of the issues with freezing (amongst other reported issues)

Make sure you also update Torque as well, as this is needed for the new pitch/roll/compass displays

(The desktop encoder will be updated soon as well, to support those new display types)

Hi Ian – I pulled in the update, but the screen is still freezing on my HTC Thunderbolt when I toggle record. If I untoggle, then exit track recorder all is well, it just doesn’t record video. Let me know if there’s something I can do to help troubleshoot. Thanks

Hi!

Sorry about that – Can you tell me what android version your thunderbolt is running? – it could be a similar issue to the One X so may need to add a workaround for that too

Thanks

I’m using Samsung Galaxy Note. I’ve already made a nice selection of videos with the Torque:

However, with the update, which updated the UI, I lost the 720p recoding resolution. Now, it’s only available Low, Medium, High. And High is a bad quality and it’s also 4:3 aspect ratio. See here:

Quality before the UI was like this:

Has 720p recording option been removed?

Hiej, can you, please, email me the Track Recorder apk from the version prior to UI update, since latest, updated version, won’t let me choose 720p resolution and all other recording qualities really blow.

My email address is: andi1111 at yahoo.com

Thank you!

Having trouble encoding the video. I followed the instructions in the Wiki. I get all the way to the “Encoding Video” screen, but nothing happens. Any help?

Hopefully I’ll be releasing another update that should bring this back in the updated app for you as well this weekend – apologies for any inconvenience caused (Of course, I’m going to blame the camera API :-))
