Post m235i oil temp gauge help please!
on: December 27, 2018 (GMT)

The car does not have a coolant or a oil temp gauge, thus why i got this app. the app shows a coolant gauge, but not an oil temp gauge. Am I missing something? Or do I need to add/download? I have the paid version of Torque.

Thanks anyone?

Phil,

There is an “Engine Oil Temperature” PID defined in Torque Pro so just add a new gauge (hold your finger down on the Realtime Info screen), click “add display”, select your gauge style and then bind it to the Engine Oil Temperature entry.

I don’t think oil temp sensors and support were a required PID for most cars (none of my cars support it) in the past. Only a subset of the sensors (OBD-2 PIDs) are mandated by the US government as of 1996.

See this wiki for list-> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs

I think only newer cars would support this PID but give it a try.

Good luck, Phil
