Hi Ian,
heard about your program from a guy who was at the racetrack the other night. I race a couple times a week with a 99 Formula and an 01 Formula Firebird. I borrowed a friends Interceptor gauge to keep an eye on the transmission temp. for my 01 but had to give it back, then I found out about this program. I downloaded the free version to check it out but still need to get a bluetooth connector.
Playing around with it I did not see an option to view transmission temp. Will there be more options once its connected to the car or is that only in the paid version? I’ll probably end up buying it, I just wanted to make sure it can read the transmission since that is the main reason I need it.
Also, havent read into everything on the site too much but if its not annoying to ask, which would you reccommend to get?
or
I looked them up on amazon and matching them up by the pictures it seemed like the first one had the most/better ratings but what would you recommend? It seems like I’d want one with v1.3 for fast readings?
Thanks for your help
Aaron
Theres tons of people on here that use this program and have bought a bluetooth device... can anyone tell me which one they'd recommend?
The blue label one or the orange/blue label?
This one was a bit more expensive ($140) than the cheap one on ebay:
http://www.obdkey.com/
I got it because I wanted one that would work without hassle, and it came with PC software that I could put on my laptop with bluetooth.
On the no hassle topic, it works very well. No drama getting it set up. It works properly every time. The software wasn't that great though. It's better than Torque in a couple places, but overall I prefer Torque for most functions.
Hope this helps.

So which one did you get?
I think it's a little pricier to buy from OBDKey for 140 bucks. 140 buck you can buy Actron OBD scanner with live dat too.
I got this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16921 and it works for me (mitsubishi outlander)
does anyone now if the following Bluetooth OBD II device will work with torque. am new to this so just wanted to know.
Crescent Bluetooth OBD2/EOBD Multi-Protocol Car Diagnostic Tool Auto Scanner Here is the link
Thanks in advance

Yes it will unless the gizmo has an internal defect. I have the exact same one and so far it works very well.

While I wish I would have gotten a smaller box like the one in your link, we have the exact same software as the one I bought. Both disks have the same cute little panda face.
I'm out of town now and have yet to know if it's even arrived yet, but from what I've seen on YouTube videos of Torque app and on XDA/SDX forums, people have recommended these cheap little eBay ones as working just fine.

That one looks no different that one the ones I've seen on Ebay for around $25-$30.

I don't know what the V1.x determines, but the one I got for $20 shipped is v1.4, so I can only assume that's good.
It looks like there are several reviews on amazon.com mentioning the Torque app works with this device.
Only 40 dollars here:
http://www.amazon.com/BLUETOOTH-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-VAG-COM-SCANTOOL/dp/B003MQ89X4?tag=fb23-20
This might be a good addition to the wiki page here:
http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Bluetooth_Adapters
I was going to add it to the wiki myself, but I don't have permission. 🙁
If that is a genuine Elm327 dongle then thats a great price, is there any way of telling for sure though?

Just because Amazon charges more for it doesn't make it any different...that's the exact same ones that are available on eBay for 25-30 shipped.
The only other one that I've seen differently that hasn't been added to the Wiki and might be worthy of adding is the same one that Genix posted http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16921
It's already at the bottom of the supported adapters in the wiki page - the one that says along the lines of 'avoid if possible' 🙂
The wiki is write-protected against spammers, I know none of you spam, but integrating the accounts here into the accounts in the wiki needs to be done before registered users can update it - and I'm busy with bugfixes/features in the app at present 🙂
It could probably do with some pictures of adapters - I'll see what I can do.
I got the cheap ELM327 off ebay and it works good so far. The only thing I've noticed is that there are sometimes random spikes in the log file (csv), for example: an oddball RPM reading of 3500 when i'm doing a constant 1700ish, or a coolant temp of -41. It also showed up in the GPS speed (one reading showed 170 MPH while I was doing about 59), so i'm not sure if it's the adapter, software, or phone.
Cheap ELM327/chinese special on an Epic 4G.
