hello,
I want to know which USB adapter work better?
Does "OBDLink SX Scan Tool" is supported?
Does ELM327 firmware version 1.XX USB change something?
Hi
They should be both pretty fast over USB - the app should support both adapter (whether straight serial or FDTI ). I haven't tried an SX, but given some of scantools stuff, I wouldn't be suprised if the SX turns out to be faster than the ELM
Which USB adapter(s) have you tried?
Does it work(via USB) on Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks for your answers
Hi
Yes, if it's on ICS and the handset supports USB host mode (which the nexus does) then it should work fine - you may need to set the baud rate to the adapters default (usually 115200 for scantool, and something like 38400 for clone adapters)
Pieman,
I'm not ready to upgrade my tab to ics beta if I don't have to. My understanding is that android 2.3.4 has the right api(?) to support usb. Won't this somehow work with torque?
Thanks
Hi!
Unfortunately no, android 2.3.4 does not have an accessible usb API (the app will tell you if it can see the API or not in the USB settings)
Only devices on android 3.1 and above properly support USB host mode and have a usable API for applications, so 3.1 or 4.0+ should be good
Hi
Is this software compatible with a micro usb converter cable connecting to the OBD cable?
I have the following OP-Com Adapter from ebay

and a Samsung Galaxy Note (USB-Hosting-able) with MicroUSB-USB cable.
I tried folling your manual for USB-Devices. Android recognized the connected op-com and it is connected with Torque but in Torque when i should select the usb-device, no usb device is shown.
I would be happy, if there will be a support of this device 🙂
It is quite common in europe.
greets
Arktik
Hi!
Op-com isn't an ELM327 compatible adapter (it's vauxhalls own protocol, and interface), so this won't work out of the box.
I don't have any protocol documentation for vauxhalls protocol (or even more importantly how the op-com adapter works, which is also required info)- I'll need this, and a test setup before I can do anything with it towards adding support
The op-com supports ISO-9141-2, KW81, KW82 und KWP2000 (ISO-14230). I don't know if there are further special protocols. But it would be a first step, if the standard protocols are supported. About how the op-com works, maybe you could ask the manufacturer http://www.opcom-diagnose.de/kontakt/
They also speak english, despite the site is in german language. I think for them it would also be an advantage to be supported by torque.
hi really great app by the way
having a litle problem it connects to elm327 dongle no problem ive also got a elmscan 5 bluetooth version 1.2a with elm327 chip
torque pro will not connect to it any ideas cheers
