Hi Torque,
I live in Australia and have a 1998 Subaru Outback. My check engine light keeps coming on, and I would like to find out the code and then reset it.
I bought a Bluetooth OBDII reader...
Auto Car V1.4 ELM327 OBDII OBD2 Bluetooth Diagnostic

..., and then discovered my car doesn't have an OBD II Port.
I have this yellow Subaru Service Monitor (SSM) port:

On eBay I can buy a Subaru 9 pin to OBD 16 pin cable, so that the Bluetooth ODBII can be connected to the yellow SSM connector:

So -- If I buy the cable, plug in the bluetooth device, and connect Torque via Bluetooth from my Android phone, will Torque be able to read anything?
Please help. I have already shelled out money for the bluetooth device. I don't want to purchase the cable only to find out that it's useless.
Cheers,
Dave.
I would doubt it, but there has been a few threads about subaru here already, use the search to find them, also have a look on specific subaru owners forums, where they can give you a better answer. As the vehicle was made before 2001, it does not have to be obd compliant, and if there is not even a obd2 socket the odds are it will not work. Have a look around incase there is a seperate obd2 connector though!
Bummer. Thanks anyway.
I did a search on Subaru and read the posts. If you do end up attempting to support Subaru's SSM protocol, I'd be happy to get a converter cable and join the beta testing. Cheers.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but i need help. I have a 2003 wrx and i am using the carberry rom, which is a modified group n rally car rom. I just got my kiwi bt adaptor and i cant get any realtime data to show up even though it says it is connected. Is it hopeless for me to try to get this app to work with this rom? Here is a link with a little more info.
