Good morning all and Dev's, would it be possible to incorporate some kind of shift light indicator into the software or an option in the settings to set a manual shift light/indication both visual and audio?

For example i would love a shift indication of some kind at 8300 rpm so i can see when to shift? also could a noise/buzz be put in there too (the loud more annoying the better so i dont miss it)?

cheers

That would be a neat feature, of course you are going to have to compensate for the bluetooth lag to get the shifting signal to be precise.

It would have to be a dedicated function, so that would rule out logging (unless the car supported a high enough speed to facilitate both).

I'll see what I can do.

I'd really like to see this feature, too. Any word on its status?

I suppose it could be written using the new plugin API easily enough if someone wants to have a go.

Could you not set an alarm to alert out at say 8000 rpm and use that as an audio alert? I have just set one up now but am not in the car atm to test it? My be with the lag I have I may need to set it a bit lower say 7700 so in real time I hit the shift at 8k?

Does anyone know if that will work?

Cheers.....

I think this has to be one of the most anticipated non-OBD functions there is. I have tested the alarm function using RPM and it does work, but then the system requests input from the user, so the alarm only works for one shift.

Once the shift light / alarm is done, I think a lot more Torque apps will sell!

Come on Ian!

I also want some type of shiftlight. But If you do it Ian, do it large enought. For example turn the whole screen red or something. When you do Dragrace or Roadrace, your eyes have to be on the street not on your phone. A tiny little "light" is something you won't notice under race conditions.

I'm leaving the shiftlight as it's an ideal starter project for someone who wants to use the plugin api and example app (hint hint), I won't be writing it 🙂
