Hi I thought I would start this thread in hopes that in the future it will contain posts regarding this car so when people do a search they have specific reference.
I hope to start by of course helping... me first 😉
Specifically I have a 1999 Grand Prix GTP and am trying to torque to read Knock.
As it stands I goto the settings and load the Pontiac Grand Prix PID that is available (there is also a generic GM PID but I'm not sure if that is of value to me)... Then I setup a display of Knock... it just registers a "-" in degrees.
I'm wondering if it was working would it register 0 degress and not - degrees?
Has anyone with say a 97-03 GTP got this app running right?
P.S. I am just using Torque LITE... should I be using the PRO version? I mean I'll pay the $5 if I have to but at this point I have seen nothing that indicates I should.
Hi!
You'll likely need the pro version as that is where the majority of fixes for the grand prix went when I worked with the people from one of the forums to add support
Ok I just bought the Pro Version I'll give it a try tonight after work!
In the full version the Grand Prix specific PID is gone so I imagine just select the generic GM one...
Definately more functionality with the full version is worth the $5 for sure.
But as far as the Grand Prix I'm not sure why some things work and others don't... for example why can it not tell something as simple as what gear I am in... it just always reads 0.
Also is there anything that I should take caution in when setting the vehicle profile? I mean for example, what is BOOST ADJUSTMENT... its set to 0 right now? And OBD2 protocol set to... thorough or fast? ... it's set to thorough. Something also about custom dahs or pid ,etc. etc... Etc... just want to make sure I am not breezing through vehicle setup and I should be selecting certin things... in spots there are definately some things I dont understand therefore have no clue what I'm doing.
Would really like to have some fellow GTP owners chime in here.
PS knock still reads 0 and last I checked with a GM scan tool I was hitting as much as 5 degrees full throttle in the 2nd gear
I don't know why but some of the sensors do not seem to work properly in the track recorder but they show data when I access realtime info... for example the gear... it works in realtime but did not in recorder.... I also noticed the knock working in realtime...
more testing is required I have tomorrow off and will get $5 of gas and go out for an hour...
That could be a bug in the track recorder - I'll look into that as extended PIDs should be working - what display type were you using out of interest?
BOOST ADJUSTMENT is basically for people who have mitsubishis where the boost doesn't account for atmospheric pressure (to get a wider range) typically you put -14.7(ish) in here to sort that out (it does not change anything on the engine, it merely changes the calculation to display boost in Torque on vehicles using MAP sensors)
Yes, it's the GM list you wanted (it's generic between a lot of General Motors vehicles)
I can confirm that as of right now on my 99 GTP I CAN get data flowing under REALTIME INFORMATION... I get Knock, Gear, Misfire Data etc. This makes me happy!
(btw there is no question in my mind that Torque is at this point the #1 app on the android hands down... angry birds is dumb etc)
But both TRACK RECORDER as well as TORQUE SCAN have a lot of values not working... ones that as I said are working in REALTIME INFORMATION.. certainly the most important of which is "knock"
Hopefully it gets straightened out somehow in the future... although the obvious benefit of track recorder is its ability to show 0-60, 1/4 mile etc which it does great... but Torque scan is realtively useless at this point.
(still learning the depth of this app btw)
Now if I can only get TRACK RECORDER videos to export as it stands at the moment links on the TORQUE wiki are all broken and/or not working for some reason.
Ah, thanks for pointing out the dead links - I've now fixed them in the wiki
I'm looking at the issues you've raised with some dials not working in the track recorder, hopefully will have this sorted out in the next track recorder update
