It seems that I, along with many others, have been searching for the GM PIDs related to oil pressure. I have a 2011 Silverado and curiously, oil pressure (along with voltage) was left off the gauge cluster in my particular trim level. That seems a little odd given what I've read about how important oil pressure (and clean oil) is to the VVT system.

Does anyone know the GM Enhanced PIDs related to oil pressure for new vehicles?

Could any of the developer(s) of Torque comment about the inclusion of oil pressure PIDs in future versions of the software?

Thanks...
-Mike

Been trying to find this for several months now for my 05 LM7 in my 98 XJ.

FYI, I'm positive that Oil Pressure is available on the bus, as DiabloSport InTune can find it just fine. They're unfortunately dinks and won't share the PID/formula.

Respectfully, I'm not SO sure "analogue" oil pressure IS available on your bus. I have been "hacking" the OBDII bus on my F150 and working on a comprehensive list of PIDs for some time. I have gone down this very same path here http://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=5925.0 and on various other Forums. http://www.f150forum.com/f4/pid-engine-oil-pressure-obdii-diagnostics-296485/#post4105777

I know GM has an oil pressure FAULT code EOP "P0520", but it is based on the pressure switch - and I suspect any oil pressure PID is only a "bit" maintained in some status byte. I don't think there is an analogue transducer. MOST vehicles (especially mine) does not possess one, but instead rely solely on the switch sensor - open 5-7 lbs.

This seems blatantly stupid to me!!! It even borders on FRAUD when MY VEHICLE sports a nice little analogue gauge on the instrument cluster that reads "just above 50% range" when the damn pressure switch is closed, and ZERO when the dam switch is open! But all you'll ever see on the instrument panel is a nice visually satisfying little "normal" reading just above half way! Might as well be the old style "idiot light" of days gone by! It thoroughly pisses me off as I succinctly state in the above linked Troque thread.

However, (not trying to justify it but) I believe most manufacturers think they will catch MUCH LESS FLACK doing it that way. Most users do not understand and the "NORMAL" "SAGGING" oil pressure - (5 - 7 lbs) at idle scares them. Although it is fine as the components of the engine require virtually NO oil pressure at idle - even for the VVT system which is not enabled then. As long as pressure will increase promptly to 20-25 lbs by the time bearing stresses developed or the VVT systems needs to advance / retard timing (800-1000 RPM under load)- everything is kopasetic. An interesting article on oil flow/pressure appears at https://www.authcom.com/choosing-the-right-oil-pump/

It probably is true that many owners would drive the dealership NUTS with questions and worries about low oil pressure if they had a TRUE analogue gauge on them, and the cost for an analogue transducer for readings on OBDII only wouldn't be cost effective. BUT I STILL DON'T LIKE IT. And if anybody finds a PID for oil pressure, I'd like to know about it for my comprehensive list.
