Long story...
I have an original HTC Droid incedible and Vgate Scan bluetooth OBD scantool, it worked fine on my 1997 Honda CR-V. Fast forward 6 months, we now have 2004 Honda Pilot, sold the CR-V and i got new galaxy 4S phone.

When i went to use Torque on the Pilot with the 4S, I paired it and selected the vgate OBD bluetooth device. Torque indicates it is connected but that the Vgate can't communicate the vehicle OBD. I have tried it with the car running, just on ignition and neither worked.

I noticed that when i paired the OBD device it gives the ID as "BTM 10-09" i thought it was different with my old phone(Droid). I still had my old phone so I got it out, sure enough it used to be called "vgate". However Torque has updated on the old phone as well and wanted to re-pair , so i did that and now in the the droid it is also "BTM 10-09".

While paired to the old phone it shows it will not connect either. So neither the old phone or new phone can get the OBD reader to work. Although both phones can pair with it correctly.

I have 2005 Subaru so i tried both phones on that car with the same results. Torque indicates scan tool won't communicate with the vehicle OBD/ECU.

I am guessing that either some update to Torque has created an issue and is the reason. And would be a logical reason why the same OBD bluetooth device that used to have a "vgate" ID now has a random "BTM 10-09" ID. Or mysteriously the OBD reader changed or failed sitting in a drawer.

Help needed....

Do you have bluetooth turned on for both phones at the same time? If so, ensure that only one phone has bluetooth on at once so that they aren't interfering with each other. If that isn't the case, it sounds to me like your OBDII adapter is dead.

I don't know for sure though, I'm not experienced enough with these yet.
