Ivan,
I got a new version this afternoon. Sorry about the flood of logs. It was interesting; things seemed to work a little more right after sending a log. I got a little data out of it twice, both times, immediately after sending logs. The first time, the temp gauge came up. Then about a minute later the rest of them jumped up. They froze after that. The second time, just the temp gauge moved. Nothing else moved.
Thanks,
T
Yes I noticed from your logs that for some reason it was getting out of synch with the command it received vs what it asked for. I'm looking at that now, but unfortunately due to 2 updates being sent out (one at lunch, and one at around 6pm GMT this evening) i'm not sure which version people are using (yes, I forgot to include version numbers in the debug, a small omission :))
Thanks for the patience though
It is version 1.0.71. No problem waiting. This is realy cool stuff. Have you thought about posting a list of cars it's been tested on? Mabey in FAQs.
I tried one of the other obd apps on the way home from work today. All text, not very pretty. It also didn't fair very well. At one point it said my corolla was doing 215 kh and the air intake temp was 211 C.
Though you might get a laugh.
I am guessing, where this is the first year of OBD II, the data set is probably less than it is now. My thought is if you poll the data from the car, what happens if the car doesn’t understand the polled value?
Just saw version 1.0.72 on the market and gave it a run. Looks VERY promising! Am getting data now on my dual ECU vehicle. Thanks for all the work you're putting in. Can't do a very thorough run through tonight, but will verify it all works tomorrow.
Got out and tested it. Worked great! Thanks for being so responsive!
Hi Ian,
I haven't got a chance to test the latest sw yet as I let on of my friends borrow it and test on his BMW 325i But I'll get it back today and test it with the Volvo again.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Ian,
I just wanted to than you again. As I stated in my email, the latest application works on my Volvo 850R! Your dedication, hard work and prompt replies are greatly appreciated!
One very happy Torque user!
Dan
Hello Ian, I just got my BT interface today, it's the same as the one shown in your picture. I'm trying the ad supported version of torque (great program!). I have paired the device to my Droid 2.1 (stock)with no problems. However, the data only updates about every 30 seconds or so. Then stops entirely when the vehicle is stopped and at idle. I emailed the debug data to you from vdelp7cs@gmail.com. I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Thank You for your time and consideration. Regards, Victor
Hi Victor, I saw your debug arrive and have already had a quick look - I think I can see the problem (a bug on my part) and have now fixed it.
I'll post a version update as soon as I've finished a couple of other things so it may be a little later this week before you get the fix!
Ian
Thank you, Ian, for your reply! I look forward to the fix and will gladly donate. Cheers
Nice work man - this is probably one of the most useful apps available for android imo.
While this may not be an issue with the app itself, i wonder if you can help, I purchased the paid version, but in the market it seems to be stuck on "authorizing purchase". I live in the US in case that matters. Any suggestions?
Also, I would really like to add knock retard for my vehicle, (1998 GMC Jimmy) but I cant find pid information online about this. any suggestions where I should look?
Thanks again for making this app, I plan to donate a bit in hopes of seeing it developed to the max. Android needs developers making useful stuff like this.
Do you have a donation page?
Really more of a nuisance than a bug, but in the CSV files that get generated by my moto droid (Rooted 2.1), the "Device Time" field is listing the day of the year instead of the day of the month:
144-May-2010 12:08:54.680
instead of
24-May-2010 12:08:54.680
Ok, I added a donation button if you really want to donate - it'll all goes towards making Torque better (and paying for some food when I'm too busy coding to be able to cook some!). Thanks!
The date bug should be fixed in the next release - hopefully out in the next day or two!
So I'm not sure if this is an issue or just maybe my car doesn't support it.. I have an 02 Honda civic si and when I got to add more dials or displays it gives an * next to what has data available. But only half on your list show that they are recieving data... I will send a debug thing in a few hours if that helps... if its just my car then Ohh well but like fuel level and mpg and a few other sensors like volts and stuff
thanks in advance just purchased paid version tonight amazing app and cant wait to see what is to come!!!
Hi again Ian, I'm still struggling with my Torque/BMW e39/Cheap Chinese Dongle setup. Nowadays the protocol polling runs all the way through until I get a 'Have you switched on your ignition" question .. but it still fails to find the ECU.
Is there anyone out there who has managed to get a 1997 European BMW 5 series (with the fat, round socket) to work with the setup I have ?? or with any setup?? .. I'm tempted to buy the proper Made in England one, but I don't want to invest over 100 pounds if it isn't going to work.
I sent in another log a day or so ago ... Hope it helps.
Cheers
Kevin
Hi Kevin
Thanks for the debug, from it I can see that it is unlikely that there is a problrm with the adapter itself, even if it is the cheap one, they all still work.
Because your BMW is before 2001, it probably does not support OBD2 (it was only mandated in most countries after 2001, and I think 2004 for most diesels).
You will need to check that your vehicle has OBD2 or not as simply the presence of the correctly shaped diagnostics plug is not enough to tell
I apologize if this isn't the right forum for this but it appears to be where bugs are going.
Recently (December) a new bug started manifesting in torque.
I open torque and it connects to the adapter (kiwi bluetooth) and ECU (2002 Saturn) and starts running normally. It works for about 2 minutes but then opens the Android Market entry for Torque. I am not pressing anything on the UI, it just opens all by itself after a couple of minutes. If I press back or select open, it will return to Torque but immediately pop up the application has crashed dialog with "Force Close" and "Report" as the options.
I am running this on a Google Ion (HTC MyTouch 3G / Magic) android 1.6. I upgraded my phone to android 2.2 which fixed the problem temporarily but it has started again. Please let me know if there is any other info I can send which would be helpful.
I think torque is awesome and would really like to be able to get back to using it.
Thanks,
Daniel C.
