cant you just leave Torque running and when the adapter comes online Torque hooks up. other than that if you have root then you can make anything do anything you want on the device.

Apparently this "feature" to come on at boot (idle) is now on, how do you turn it back off ? On my phone I do not want it on at boot, it is interfering with other BT devices like my smartwatch.

Just what appears to be happening: one of my cars is a Chrysler and I have Torque paired with the dongle in that car.

When anywhere else even when walking, Torque seems to periodically kick off a search for the dongle and that knocks my smartwatch and the handsfree phone in another car offline when it does. They are often not able to reconnect when that happens.

Consequently I really need to be able to only turn Torque on when needed and to have it off or at least not keep searching for a dongle when not active.

Please let me know if there is a way or a setting I have missed but as it is, as soon as I turn the phone on I can see Torque being active in notifications & periodically my phone vibrates telling me it was just kicked off.

Are you exiting the app or hitting the home button? You have to actually (from the Torque home screen) press OPTIONS->Exit to close the app completely

Sorry. you misunderstood, I do not want it to start at all & only run when I need it. It is starting when I turn the phone on, draining the battery, and disconnecting then keeping my watch from reliably pairing even when I am not near a car.

What I want is to be able to boot my phone (I turn it off at night) without Torque starting and then only start Torque when I am in a running car with a dongle.

Went through all of the settings and could not find a way to keep it from starting when the phone boots and now when I shut it down it is turning the Bluetooth off.

If there is no way I may need to uninstall and start using TouchScan instead.

I really like Torque but cannot have it just turning on and affecting other devices when I do not need it.

Torque NEVER starts up on my phone unless I told it to.

Go to "settings"
then to "dash installation settings"
make sure "start torque on reboot" is unclicked

Also, go to "OBD2 Adapter Settings"
Make sure ""auto bluetooth on/off" and "only if BT was already off" are unclicked

Torque will also auto-start if you have a plugin that's requesting Torque to start (the widgets plugin is one such plugin that requests Torque to start automatically - you can disable that behaviour using the 'OBD toggle' widget)

Torque will definitely not start unless it's been configured to in the settings, or a plugin is calling it externally and requesting it to start

(as a side note, when running all the time it doesn't drain the battery as the app has a hibernate mode for when it's not near any adapters - this way, as designed, you can also leave torque running all the time on your device without any significant battery drain!)
