I have been unable to get other than gps csv data when trying to log a trip.
I enabled several logging features, such as engine load, rpm, mpg etc., and took a trip.
On return it uploaded 3374k of data.
The spreadsheet only shows device time, 0.0 for gps data as my device has no gps, and g x,y,z.
I had the "alldata" gauge visible on my screen.
I guess the distance and speed is gps only? How about taking that from the speedometer data in the car?
Another thing, is one doesn't know if logging is enabled untill you hit the logging button, then it will turn it off if it is already on.
I was sure to enable it and not touch it during the above trip.
Thanks for the app, will buy if I can use it.
P.S. I know others have asked for more details of paid vs. free app. Where is list?
Nook Color nooted with cyanamod, KIWI bluetooth, nissan maxima 2001.
Hi!
The descriptions and screenshots for both apps describe and show the differences between the free and pro versions, in fact the pro version lists the features out in a bulleted list near the top of the market description, so you should be able to see the differences.
Uploading data is not the same as saving data to a file. If you have chosen the upload to webserver option, then that won't write to a file on the SD card, it uploads directly to a webserver.
The toggle logging option is for logging to the SD card (I will create some documentation for this) and logs by default GPS data if it is turned on. It won't log anything else unless you have selected what sensors to log in the main app settings. You can easily choose what sensors (OBD speed, rpm, etc) to log. If you are getting '0' for the GPS readings, then that may indicate that your GPS chipset was turned off, or did not have a decent lock with the GPS satellites.
Thanks,
Still a bit confused... So I don't have to "enable logging", it stores it somewhere on board?
I wasn't trying to upload to a web application, I was sending csv data to look at in Libreoffice spreadsheet.
It looked like that was the only way to use saved data, email it as prompted.
I mentioned I did not have GPS in my unit both in the subject and body, I.E. can logging be done without it?
Will speedometer data work? Will say temperature vs. time still record without GPS? (I just read somewhere here speedometer data was being worked on).
I enabled many things, the dial gauges and small live graphs work, but no data was in the csv that I emailed to myself.
And I was sure to have the live multi data gauge showing on the screen.
I do have an sd card in the unit, if that is a help, and no problem if I have to take it out to use it.
I just want to enable logging somehow, come home and look at graphs, how about a drunken monkey step by step for me when you get a chance?
Thanks
Hi!
Yes it will log without the GPS being present
Speedometer data hasn't needed to be worked on - it's been present since day 1 of the apps creation, so can be logged without issue
You need to choose the pids to log in the main application settings. (Press menu on the first screen->settings), otherwise you will not get much logged at all. Adding widgets to the screen does not decide what is logged (but will slow the logging down, especially if you have the raw/all data widget on the screen - I would recommend removing that)
Once you have configured the sensors to log in the application settings, you can then use the 'toggle logging' button in the menus to start/stop logging
