Is there a chance of down the road this being able to be used on an Ipad? I know that Apple does restrict the use of who they allow you to connect to with bluetooth. And this is why I HATE Apple products so much, but I do have an Ipad and it sure would be easier to view on that, than on my Evo 4G. I know I could buy an Android tablet, but not going to, just for this. I am suprised that Apple don't have software to do the same thing as Torque. I love the GUI on this. I haven't recieved my bt OBD II unit yet, but excited to check it out. I bought one of the mini ones off of Ebay.
There are inexpensive WiFi adapters on eBay now. One app that is new to ios is Engine Link. The author seems to be updating regularly, just added custom pid support along with built in support for Prius custom pids. Its not near torque's level of fit and finish, but has come a long way in just a few weeks and shows promise.
Torque would be great on iOS but at least someone is working on an acceptable iOS solution comparable to torque in price. To be fair, you can use a BT adapter on iOS if you jailbreak, just like how you have to root your android device if you want to use a WiFi elm adapter..
Also of note, there is a new device for iOS coming out soon that does use Bluetooth to connect between your obdii and iOS device, so I wonder if perhaps apple expanded Bluetooth capability recently when they moved to Bluetooth 4.0... See below:

Yea but the only problem is, that I want to use Torque on the Ipad, but can't. I will use my Evo 4G, but sure would be nice to use this app on the big screen.
I would get a wifi adaptor for it, if the app was available, but there just are no apps that look as good as this one.
They are coming out with one for the Iphone in May, but they want $69., but just too much to check your car once in blue moon. And I don't have an Iphone anyway, and do not want one.
Non Apple products is the way to go.

Congratulations Ian. Will be interesting where you head with that.
Congratulations are in order. You have done a fabulous job with this software program. It is amazing, and I love it, but sure wish I had a bigger screen (as in android pad), but did get a Ipad. Strange because I udderly HATE Apple products, because of their restrictions and marketing program (every 6 months or so, new phone or Ipad).
Hi
Apple need to relax bluetooth restrictions a /lot/ - I'm not entirely sure why they limit access to bluetooth to just handsfree/a2dp - normal SPP profiles (what the adapters and lots of other bluetooth devices use) would make the handset a lot more useful. Unfortunately at the moment, due to the restriction any app is limited to WiFi devices instead.
It's early days yet - Coming from a Java background, the syntax of ObjectiveC is somewhat strange and seemingly counter-productive in areas, though now I have my head around it, it's just a case of learning the API's to use and then it's full stream ahead. I can't promise anything on this as it's still early days.
I bought Torque last year, and still keep an old Android phone around just to use Torque since I switched from an Android tablet to an iPad.
I just bought a WiFi OBD-II adapter to use with the iPad, but I would really like to have Torque for the iPad. I bought Engine Link HD, but Torque is a much more advanced app. The other apps for the iPad are around 40 dollars and I can't afford that for home use.
My iPad is jailbroken, so I can use my bluetooth OBD-II adapter, but it takes a couple of extra steps to connect it every time, so the WiFi adapter is easier.
If you get to a point where you need testers, I would be happy to help.

YAY!!!
I've waited a long time to hear that!
Can't wait for this to be finally...hopefully released on iOS soooooooon!!!!
Thought I was going to have to buy a cheap Android phone just to get Torque!
🙂
I was just in the Apple Store and they now have several OBD2 compliant apps. Some are for WiFi and some for Bluetooth.
Nothing that looks anywhere near as nice as Torque though! I know a lot of Apple device owners looking for a good interface.
Any idea as to when you might have a working Apple interface OBD2 app?
Thanks!

Hi
… I can't promise anything on this as it's still early days.
I just picked up an iPhone after 'ol Droid 2 bit the dust. I think what I'll miss the most about it was that it had this really cool app called TORQUE!, lol 😉
Like everyone else here, I'd like to know if you've made any headway on porting it over to iOS yet?

Any progress on this? With the new iphone 6 with bigger screens. I'm really thinking of going back to apple. Torque Pro is the only thing holding me back.
Hi Ian, I was wondering if you were any further forward in releasing Torque Pro for IOS?
