So, I have been using Torque for a while now, normally every time I drive. what I find though, is I am always flicking out of Torque to change song that I am listening to whilst driving, and also to use navigation. I guess these 2 items, 1 is easy to implement, the other is not so much.
Adding media controls, or a little widget/custom display seems easy. You can replicate the signals used by headphones for next song, previous, play/pause etc. I think it would be a valuable tool to add to torque.
The second idea of Google navigation, whilst it would be nice, I think it may be a little harder. Just like the Map you can have in Torque, I would love to see navigation. If this is too difficult, what about adding an app shortcut. Then people can select what app they want to load out of Torque including navigation and save it as a permanent button?
Thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi
You can add the 'push button' media controls in Torque already - simply add the relevant ones in the 'Realtime Information' screen
Navigation is a completley different ball game in Android - basically Google have already sown this one up extremely well so there's relatively little point in trying to compete or beat them - I'll see if I can add a 'nav' shortcut button to their app though
Hi there Ian,
Any progress with the shortcut for Google Navigation? The day we get navigation will consider the deal as signed, sealed and deliverd..... 😉
