For some reason GPS stopped getting a lock in Torque on my Witstech. It sees 9 sats inside torque but never locks in. I get lock outside of torque on my GPS test prog and copilot. I sent a log from my celblazer email.

Thanks.

Hi

The GPS code hasn't changed since it was fixed for the wistech tablets so it should still work fine - it is possible that your GPS drivers hadn't got the almanac data from the satellites at that time so could not get a lock (as the almanac hadn't been received - the almanac is basically a description of where the satellites are in the sky so the GPS correlators can than then work out your location. If this data hasn't been received(via the web or the satellites themselves), or is out of date then it must be loaded again before a lock can be made).

Reboot your tablet and try again - chances are that it will work!

I'll give that a try tomorrow but torque is the only program not getting a lock. Everything else I try gets a lock of 6-11 sats depending on where I was today.

If the GPS wasn't working, then you wouldn't see the number of satellites in the GPS status (and I'd have a lot of people jumping up and down). 🙂

It's possible that the tablet has a bug I've also seen a couple of times on a couple of samsungs where it will just outright refuse to lock, however restarting the device did fix the problem (other apps randomly could obtain a GPS lock and others wouldn't a when the bug was triggered)

No lock. I reset it, made sure it had a lock in GPS test for over 30 minutes and then started torque and still no lock in torque. Google maps, Copilot and GPS Test all get a lock within 30 seconds.

It's weird GPS was working fine in torque until recently.

Okay, I'll have a look at it - it's probably a wistech specific issue as it's working on the Xperia X10, Nexus S, Galaxy S2, Dell Streak, Nexus one, and Huawei (cheapphone) I've tested on here!

I had some time to play today.

No matter I try what Torque will not see my gps location.

I went so far as to tether the tablet to my droid 2 with tether gps to use the droids gps and Torque still would not see my location. I did confirm my other apps got location lock this way also.
