I wanted to buy a Google Nexus 5, but wanted to be sure my important apps work. So a bud at work has this phone. We downloaded Torque to his phone and it just doesn't work. It launches, but the main screen does not display at all. NO graphics at all. It goes to a screen with one dial on it, but even if you try to add dials, there is just a list and nothing more. No graphics. You can never get to the main front screen where you can select to view realtime, or check faults.... nothing. I've emailed the developer with no response. I'm under a tight time limit and need an answer now! I don't want to lose Torque if it will never be updated to work on the Google Nexus 5 (with KitKat 4.4.2). But I NEED to buy a phone ASAP! Last friday, my POS Samsung Galaxy Note 2 just went dead and it is 2 weeks out of warranty. I'm still waiting on Samsung to make their "decision" if they'll fix it or not. In doing web searches, there appears to be a huge problem with the Note 2 and also the S4 with the same dead issue.
So I don't want to buy another Samsung product, but I don't want to lose Torgue. It's one of my preferred apps.
Ian, can you please respond to this and reply to my email about this. It was sent yesterday, so you should see it there.
Thanks
I don't know where in the world you are, but within Europe Samsung gives a two year warranty. Since the original Note (which I have) has only recently had its second birthday I'd be surprised if your Note 2 wasn't still covered - unless you're not in Europe.
I recently updated my phone to a Google Nexus 5, and was concerned by this post, so I just went to check if it works on my phone (I had not yet installed Torque Pro on it) First checked all was working with my old Samsung Galaxy SII, and it was. So I installed the app on my N5 (white 32GB version)and connected to the bluetooth adapter, all worked OK, and was able to add dials to the display.
I then thought I would try it with my Nexus 7 (2012 16GB version)as that has recently been updated to Kit Kit, and that all works as it should.
Both phone and tablet are running stock Android, and I have not yet rooted the phone, and the tablet needs re-rooting after update.
Hope this information is of use.
Perhaps you have a corrupt install?
I got N5, phone is great and everything works just nice... Except map view, i cant see map.
Only my trip track line
Make sure you have installed Torque from Google Play
Torque is never distributed outside of genuine mainstream app markets. It will never be distributed on CD
I just recently installed the lite app after buying a generic scanner... i have a galaxy S5 running 4.4.2 and it connects just fine but there is no menu option! i can add, move and delete displays but i can't seem to find the settings menu or anywhere. Help. I'd like to clear a code or atleast find out what it is. Thanks.
I have a Nexus 5 and downloaded the Lite app from Google Play. All connects via the bluetooth fine and the icons on the top all turn blue but thats it. I got a square ACCEL headed moving graph and nothing else, cannot do a thing with it, can read anything.
I installed a lesser product and it worked just fine, saw the fault and reset it all and it took just 30 seconds.
I seriously considered purchasing the Pro version of Torque but if this issue cannot be solved then obviously its no good to me.
Just a friendly reminder... Torque Lite
is not updated for bug fixes and new
features as often as Torque Pro.
For an example just compare the release
dates for each.
That said... your problems may have already
been addressed in Torque Pro.
I highly recommend Torque Pro and its
ancillary plugins, e.g., Track Recorder and
Torquescan.
