Hi,
I have a problem when I want to exit from Torque on my Samsung Galaxy Tab.
System become slowly, freeze and need a reset everytime.
I tried several option (disable BT, GPS) without any success !
(I saw topic on EVO with same problem)
Somebody can help me ?
Thanks

Hi
I spent some time this weekend testing with a Galaxy Tab - for an install on the Tab, everything in Torque works perfectly including quitting.
There is a good chance that you have another app or bluetooth pairing that is conflicting somehow - with quite a few EVO users (though it wasn't limited to just the EVO), the 'Pandora' app was the culprit, but any app that stays active monitoring bluetooth could be the culprit.
Torque's bluetooth code is rock solid, and it works on the Tab, so you'll have some 3rd party app somewhere which is going crazy consuming all the available CPU power.
Regards,
Ian
I have the Samsung Mesmerize (Galaxy S) and had the same problem. I removed the application Pandora and Torque worked great. Reinstalled Pandora and problem came back.
To keep Pandora and use Torque, I set Pandora this way ...
Open Pandora, login, menu, preferences, UNCHECK bluetooth for automotive. This is the portion of Pandora that causes the problem.
Now both work just fine (just no car for Pandora, which I do not use)
Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
But I don't use Pandora on my GTab and I don't see what other app can do that with bluetooth
After reboot, executing services list with BT are :
- OPPServerService (OPP)
- BluetoothPbapService (Bluetooth Share)
Other are :
- 3G WatchdogService
- CircleBatteryService
- Calengoo
- Aldiko
- Paypal
- DMService (Device Managment)
- DockService
- Google Framework
- Calendar
- E-mail
- OmaDrmConfigService
- SnsService
- NetworkLocationService (Maps)
- AxT9IME (Samsung keyboard)
- Nexus (Wall paper)
Any Idea ?
I have the same problem on my my touch 4g...i use pandora all the time, I don't think I we should have to change app configurations to accommodate the developer. The reason for the bug is found please fix ian...thx, it is an amazing app, in addition can you provide an imperial measurement for the torque dial?
Was anybody freezing on the free version? It was only freezing on the paid version.
I can not say it is a bug for Ian, as ANY other bluetooth OBD app that I use on my phone, also locks up the phone, unless I disable the Pandora setting. It sounds like it is a Pandora issue, not allowing other applications to use the bluetooth (i.e. auto-enable that feature in Pandora). Not everyone will use it that way, I never have, but I can see some people using it.
As for the FREE or PAID, I had it freeze using both versions. I actually got the paid one in hopes it would have been fixed (as the free version is older, going by version)
Hi,
A new version of Torque was downloaded today from Market and now everything is OK, I don't have any freeze !!!
I don't know if Ian found any bug and fix it, but now, Torque exit works fine.
Many thanks

I can verify (to a small extent). One other app still locks up, have not re-installed the other one. I also did upgrade from Android 2.1upgrade1 to Android 2.2.1 although I do not think that made a change to this. I also do not recall a Pandora upgrade either, just for reference.
Hi,
Infortunatly, my GTab freeze again but few minutes later.
I tried two times, and freezing coming between 15mn to 30 mn !
I'm very disappointed !
@+
I am running on a Galaxy Tab with no issues. Firmware 2.2, build FROYO.XWJJ7
Just my two cents... I was running 1.2.47 and had no issues quitting Torque. When I up dated Torque a couple days ago, I started getting the lockups everytime I quit Torque.
Running Android 2.2.1
HTC HD2
Jawbone Icon
Pandora ran fine before/after the update
Hope this info helps

The reason for the bug is found please fix ian...
The bug isn't with, or in Torque. therefore I can't fix it. You need to complain to the pandora developers. Pandora updated with their new (bugged)bluetooth feature around the same time I updated torque (btw torque is updated almost weekly).
Pandora has a bluetooth service that is running all the time. This was recently introduced in their recent update, and it's listening to the SPP connection Torque makes (which pandora shouldn't do), then gets stuck in a loop when Torque quits. The bug is with Pandora, it's in their app, and there is nothing I can do to fix their broken code. I have already raised this with the Pandora support, and I encourage the rest of you having problems to do the same.
Alternatively, those of you using Pandora, could simply go into that apps settings and disable the 'bluetooth' setting until they fix their code! 🙂
EDIT: Pandora support have got back to me and their app triggers the issue, though it is a problem with the bluetooth drivers shipping with the device. Your device manufacturer will need to send out new drivers in a firmware update to fix the issue.
thank you will try that.
EDIT: That worked great, and I dont use the bluetooth car feature on Pandora.

the point is that we do not have any Pandora app nor bluetooth chinese apps installed. Perhaps you've been testing using an american SGT, usa is well known for selling locked devices, branded, with changed drivers (usa SGT initially weren't capable of use the telephone) and so forth..
I would love to send you the stacktrace but my tablet is embedded in my car, and point two since the device freezes I doubt it will log any sort of error.
But since it looks difficult to understand, may be handy to repeat: no pandoras apps here, so the freeze problem is not bluetooth related. The SGT is not paired with my car bt (I completely removed the MagnetiMarelli Bluetooth module), the device is paired only with the official Scantool ObdKey adapter.
Unfortunately it is bluetooth related. Pandora is a trigger for the bluetooth bugs that exist on the GTab and some HTC devices.
I have had a GTab here. It works with torque flawlessly PROVIDED there are no extra bluetooth pairings other than the OBD adapter.
This isn't a bug that I can fix, as it's not a problem with Torque, it is the bluetooth drivers that ship with the Galaxy Tab. Samsung need to send out fixed drivers in a firmware update to cure the issue. I suggest you contact their support department to encourage them to release a fix.
Ian
I currently have this problem. Everytime I quit Torque I have to forcefully restart the tab (if bluetooth is enabled).
This is solved if I manually disable bluetooth before quitting and then quit.
I do not use any other bluetooth devices, nor do I have Pandora installed on my Tab.
Manually disabling the bluetooth and then quitting causes no problem, quitting with bluetooth on freezes the tab.
I've also disabled the automatic activation of BT within the app or anything that would automate the process, it still crashes when bluetooth is on.
UPDATE: I've flashed my SGT from Bell's (Canada) firmware to the euro version, crash is no longer an issue. This is definitely a firmware problem with outdated/buggy modules for the bluetooth stack.
I just started using the free version and love the concept of this app. I have noticed thou it does freeze my phone at various times. I don't have Pandora so I'm not sure what the conflict might be.
I have seen other apps play nicely whilst sharing bluetooth, is there something specific on the bluetooth stack this app uses to cause a conflict that others do not? I do use a jawbone whilst driving and also this app, could this be the problem... I will investigate further.
My phone is a Nexus One Rom using Android 2.3.4
It's specific on the bluetooth stack. Basically if one app is listening for a bluetooth connection whilst another connects using SPP, then the bluetooth 'process' in the Android OS goes nuts and consumes all the CPU (making the device run very, very, very, slowly!)
I've had someone who tests samsung devices contact me, and he's offered to look at the issue if I can get the model/firmware of the galaxy tab (with the issue) to him. If you could get the Model number and Firmware version/kernel to me I can pass this on and samsung can (hopefully) get moving on this if they are not already!
Hi everyone, I have a Samsung Ace S5830L with the same problem, And I now I see the problem is with the samsung devices, in thsis forums we are three diferents samsung devices with the same problem, but thanks for your support.
Hi,
First: I love all the things Toque can do. It' a great app.
I have found the app to lock up and freeze both on exit, and in general after 15 - 30 minutes of use. I use the app with a Scantool.net ODBII - Bluetooth interface.
My Samsung Galaxy Tab is from T-Mobile in the US and is running their image. The "about tablet" screen shows:
Model number: SGH-T849
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: T849UVJJB
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 may.park@SEP-08 #1
Build number: FROYO.UVJJB
I do not have *any* other apps that I am aware of using Bluetooth and I have never had Pandora installed in the device.
I'd be very happy to do whatever I can to help debug this problem, test things, work with whoever might be able to help. I _really_ would love for this issue to go away.
