Hi, My 1st post so i have a bunch of questions.

The device I'm looking to get is the ODBkey which is your recommendation, but what about the PLX kiwi wifi, does that work fine with Torque. My phone is rooted, but what else is required to make it work with Torque?

I prefer the PLX, a little more expensive but you have the option of using it on a IPhone/ITouch in the future. If its problematic ill just get the the ODBkey and stick with android based phones.

Does anyone use this on a HTC Dream/G1? i have the android dev phone 1 running the latest cyanogenmod rom which is a port of 2.1 (build EPE54B).

The car i intend to use the app on is a kia sorento which has the ODBII port and many use this with the Scangauge II device.

This looks a a great app btw, I'm quite excited to buy the interface 🙂

Hi,

If you buy the PLX Kiwi wifi then you will also have to setup ad-hoc networking on your HTC by editing some text files in the system partition. A bit of a pain to do and it messes with your wifi settings.

I myself prefer the bluetooth method, mainly because I don't have to do anything special to my device.

I've had reports of some Kias not supporting OBD2 or not responding. Check that yours supports OBD2 before investing in an adapter as I don't want you to spend money only to find your car does not support it!
Thanks

Ian

Cheers for the info.

Like i say the scangauge2 is popular with kia sorento owners and thats obd2 for displaying mpg etc while towing.

I want trip computer like functions in the car and Torque seems a good option.

Cheers

Thats cool

Let me know if you find any shortcomings of the trip side of things - it's not really been tested and I think there is currently an outstanding bug (that I will be looking at sometime this week) to do with the distance logger.

I can be caused by wrong protocol recognition.
Try another app. "Efficiency" or "OBD Dashboard" - they work fine on my 2005 Sorento (and Vgate bluetooth blue dongle) while Torque does not (connection ok but no real time readings)

"OBD Dashbord" reports ISO 9141 after connection while Torqe tries ISO14230 probably
