Hi all, using obd2 Bluetooth device and torque android app. Had my cats replaced with new hi flow 100cpsi and sure enough engine management light comes on, using the above was able to scan for fault codes. Detected 2 (each cat as it's a v8) and was able to clear the fault codes and the engine management light went off, but a couple if days later the light came back on. Rescanned again and the fault codes are the same as before referring to the new hi flow cats, again cleared codes and lights is out. My question why doesn't the clearing of the fault stay permanent? What am I doing wrong? Car is a FPV (ford) 2009 Falcon GT.

They are coming back because the fault still exists. The pcm tests the cats at certain times under certain conditions. It can take days or weeks to get the required conditions for some tests depending on driving conditions and methods.

I'm guessing your new cats are behaving
like a "de-catted" system causing the CEL.

Excellent. Will do this, does the obd2 adapter and torque app need to be connected all the time for the automatic clearing to occur and continue occurring?...

If Torque is periodically checking... I wouldn't
think so, but I have never used this feature
because it may miss other DTCs and will
reset all the OBDII monitors to incomplete -
requiring a "drive cycle" to complete.
(Something to think about before required
inspections).

It's a newish car I'm not concerned about the cel not being able to come on at all, I guess I can check the logs as well, but it's gonna get a tune in December so I may just put up with the light and get sorted then, Its not like a real problem, guess purely for me it's an. info light saying the cats aren't within factory spec, and a tune simply turns off the sensors anyway...
