Hello guys,
Quick question...I finally got the dongle to sync wth my car and everything is golden..I must say that its a pretty damn impressive app and pretty accurate as well
As some of u may know, later bmws do not come with an oil nor water temp gauge...and just to top it off no dipstick!!! ..
anyways..,when i got into the app I was getting good reading and everything but on the oil temp it showed me NO DATA...any way to check that info?
also some of the things are not marked in green which means they are not active data...why is that??
thanks!
Bump
Piemmm. I got a question,
If the program is reading directly from obd2 and there is way to see the temperatures thru a secret menu on the cluster (therefore the ecu have it as active) why is it giving me "no data"?
Thank you !
A lot of the PIDs were not released by the car's manufactures (they are called extended PIDs). The car might monitor the temp but you do not have access to it with out the extenede PID. You will need to find out the extended PID and insert it under your advanced settings. Are you sure the car has a Oil Temp Gauge built in? If there is not gauge there was little reason for them to install a sensor on your car.
Thanks for your response!
If you do a swap with the new performance steering wheel, then the oil/coolant/engine/speed/etc are displayed on the steering wheel lcd screen, also with an access to the secret menu (dealership hidden menu) you can see it for a couple seconds.
Where would i find the advanced pids files to download them to the phone? I am pretty new to this and was doing some reading about those on different forums but wasnt able to find links to them per se.
if you could guide me to some reading ill really appreciate it!
thank you again
You will just have read the forum as far as putting in new PIDs. There is info out there, nothing to download, just small bits of code. You will have to search the internet or ask people in the know for exteneded PIDs. They are not always easy to find if you can find them at all.
If anyone finds a list of PIDs (not fault codes :)) with associated units and equations, publically accessible on the internet, then I have no problems adding them to the predefined lists in the apps extended PIDs section
