Is this app capable of diagnosing ABS codes? Is there plans in the future for it to do this?
Hi!
ABS support is heavily dependant on getting hold of documentation on how to talk to the ABS module itself
Torque will show you the fault codes for ABS (if the unit responds to the normal OBD2 fault code requests)
If you have a Ford, you should also be able to view some ABS information like wheel speeds (by adding the Ford specific PIDs)
The main thing holding me back on adding ABS support is knowing how to talk to these units (which aren't usually covered by OBD2 on older vehicles) if I knew how to talk to them, adding support would happen very swiftly!
This is a great app, I bought it about a week ago and have been using it alot on gas and deisel engines. Im amazed that this can be done with a smartphone. I showed it to a freind at a local autoparts store and just blew his mind. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy this app. Probably one of the best tools out there right now.
I bought mine a while back and was impressed how often developpers updated the APP. I use it everyday clearing codes in vehicles to prove to the owners that my key FOB repair is OK and that remote start doesn't work if you have a CEL.
ABS would be nice so would DIC reading of the Inflatable air bags module coding.
I have recently purchased the Torque app & mini ElM 327. I have used it on my family vehicles which are a 2004 Saab 9.3 Aero convertible and 2004 Chevy Silverado 3500 Duramax diesel. The Chevy diesel give me sooo.. much information, I am impressed. I do have an ABS fault on both vehicles and was hoping I could determine what component was causing the faults. It was disappointing to discovery those ABS faults are not accessible with Torque. After doing some reading of the past posts on the ABS topic I understand the ABS controller is not directly accessible and you need more specific ABC communication information to proceed with ABS fault readouts. Keep up the great work and I will keep in touch to see if you are able to add the ABS faults to your wonderful product. Since I am writing to add to your "suggestion box" for Torque, I would like to see the air bag faults being supported as well. Best regards.
It isn't just software lacking with the other (ABS, SRS, etc) modules. On many cars, those modules are on another bus entirely and could never be accessed using an ELM module.
