Hi Everyone,
I have a BMW 118d which has been remapped. I recently purchased this app (which is awesome)but have a few questions in regards to BHP/Torque readings and the Boost feature.
Is there a correct way in obtaining accurate BHP and Torque readings, I know you need to set the weight etc which I have done but the readings dont seem to work? It gets to like 100BHP then drops back down and up but never over 100? Same applies to the torque reading but this gets upto around the 200 mark?
My next question is regarding the 'Adjust boost' setting. It automatically set itself to 14.7 and I noticed the comment below which says usually 0 or 14.7 is sufficient but I was wondering whether it is safe to adjust it, if so, what to? Please bear in mind that my car has been remapped (just incase this has an input)
Thanks in advance
Naz
Let me take a stab at the second question. I think the reason why boost adjust is defaulted at 14.7 (PSI I assume) is because that is the natural PSI you see at sea level. Anything above that can be considered boost.
Hi!
I probably could have chosen better words for 'adjust boost' in the settings 🙂 - don't worry as this isn't your vehicles boost, it's just the offset for reading the boost in the app as some manufacturers have slightly different interpretations of how it is measured.
I'll change the wording in the next update if I can think of something more clear.
For accurate Torque and BHP readings you should try to start your 'test' from either stopped, or a very low initial rolling speed (less than 10mph), and not on a hill
Then accelerate as safe and quickly as is possible. This should provide an accurate reading.
If you spin the wheels during the test, then usually then readings are higher than what you would normally see.
Hope this helps
Ian
Thanks for the replies!
So what would be a safe number to set the boost to? As I said my car is already remapped so that is why I am wary of increasing it (incase I damage the engine) but is there a safe way to do it, say incrementally for example?
Edit - or is it just a reading and not meant to be configured?
