Probably beating a dead horse here but I have a problem reading my EOT. I have the Ford custom PIDs installed and PID: 221310 is what I am trying to use to monitor my oil temp. I have tried every combo of the equation I can find on here, ((((A*256)+B)/100)-40)*(9/5)+32 works when I test, or should I say seems to give a good reading when tested. As soon as I leave the PID edit screeen and go to my gauge screen the reading is off from the test results by about 100.. Please help. Vehicle is an 04 Excursion Eddie Bauer with 6.0 Powerstroke.
Hi
Check your unit settings. The formula you are using converts to F so make sure your units match this.
You can get rid of the '(9/5)+32' and leave the units at C (the app will then convert based on your units settings in the preferences)
Also, when you add a gauge to display, in the list you will find 2 EOT gauges to chose from.
"Engine Oil Temperature"
And
"Engine Oil Temp"
Make sure you are using the "Engine Oil Temp"
Thanks for all the assistance working now with full equasion and units F
Glad you got it working.
bought the pro version, there is a listing for engine oil temp, but ijust get "no data" on my 2004 6.0. How can i make that work? I'm a complete noob, btw!
Hi
The default Oil Temperature is one of the 'generic' OBD2 PIDs (pid basically means 'sensor id').
You'll need to add the Ford specific PIDs to the app (go into Settings->Manage extra PIDs>menu>add predefined list>Ford)
Once you've done that you should get a few extra sensor types in the app
I added the ford PID's and EOT is only reading 32*, cant get it to read actual temps. Can someone please help me fix this issue??
Look at the list you choose from and make sure you are selecting the right EOT gauge, as posted above.
Thanks for the help guys. Updating Torque with the Ford PID files got me the sensor I was looking for. I had to decrease the data rate from my generic ELF327, but I can deal with the update speeds as long as it display fairly accurately.
Thanks!
