Post OBDlink will not connect on android
on: November 20, 2011 (GMT)

Hi!

Just received my OBDLink a few days ago (Hardware Revision 2.7) but I´m not able to connect via Bluetooth to my Android 2.3.3 Samsung Galaxy S2 and Torque.
The OBDlink is paird to the device but it is not able to connect via Torque.
No other tools are paired with my device.

I´ve tried alot of settings but was not lucky. Torque is not connecting.

USB connection works fine.

today I tested the OBDlink bluetooth modul with my laptop. bluetooth is working fine.
i also tested the bluetooth module with my android samsung galaxy s2 and OBD DroidScan. No problems here.

But still no connection with android-torque.

Please help me.

Thx, fliegergott

Hi

First, fully power off the laptop (it may auto-connect over bluetooth even with no OBD software running so for the purposes of this test turn the laptop off or disable bluetooth on it temporarily)

Then, unplug and re-plugin the adapter (this will drop any connections to it)

After that, make sure your phones bluetooth is turned on.

Then, start Torque. Go to the OBD Adapter settings (Menu->settings->OBD2 adapter settings), and check ‘Connection Type’ is set to ‘Bluetooth’

Then on that same screen, and click on ‘Choose Bluetooth Device’ and make sure the ScanTool.net device is selected.

After that, go to the main screen. The app may start connecting at this point, but if it does not that may mean that you have setup a different OBD2 adapter to use in the vehicle profile.

Go into the vehicle profile (Menu->Vehicle Profile) and Edit the current profile you are using.

Scroll down to the bottom of the next screen. The two drop-down boxes in that screen should say: ‘As defined in global OBD2 preferences’ and ‘Automatic – Thorough protocol scan’. If they do not, then change them to these values.

Then save that profile screen.

Make sure you have told Torque to use the profile you have just edited.

The app should then connect to the adapter. To speed things up a little, you can fully quit and restart the app.

That’s it! The app should now be connected to the adapter :-)

Thank you for your quick reply!

I think that may fault was not to setup a new vehicle profile.
I´ll test that in the afternoon and post the result in the evening.

Hi all!

Just tested torque via bluetooth on android again.
OBDlink is working fine (quick and stable)!
I had to change the vehicle profile (the wrong/old obd-module was saved).

Thank you!
